Ceylinco Insurance grabs Asia`s most innovative award

At the 10th Asia Insurance Industry Awards 2006 which was held in Brunei, Ceylinco Insurance General Division grabbed the award for the most innovative insurance company in Asia for the second time for its ?One and Only? Policy.
?This is an honor to the entire country as this is the second time we have won the most innovative company award among 2800 companies and 886 participants in Asia,? Ceylinco Insurance Chief Executive Director Ajith Gunawardena told journalists yesterday. This is considered an Oscar award for us and we owe it all to the staff who have helped us win the award, Mr. Gunawardena added. The One and Only insurance policy was born as a result of their staff being encouraged to take part in the development of the product.
This awards ceremony was jointly organized by the Singapore based Asian Insurance Review and London based The Review to appreciate Asia`s finest in the insurance industry.
Many European and American countries whose offices were based in Asia bagged most of the prices with only a few being awarded to the Asian companies.
Ceylinco Insurance received the award among other multinational companies such as Swiss Re, HSBC International Life, American Home Assurance, HSBC Insurance Brokers and many others.
The One and Only insurance policy was begun last year where anyone who shops at any Arpico or Laughs Supermarket would receive a credit card for twenty rupees and instantly get cover of Rs.5000 then and there and make it grow each time they shop there. So if anything happens to them like they get injured through natural disasters or have an accident the amount up to what they have spent last will be given to them or any agent.
?This is a significant accomplishment for a Sri Lankan company to achieve such recognition at the global level and it proves once again that our concern for the Sri Lankan insuring public?, Ceylinco Insurance Company Chairman Lalith Kotalawala stated. Over the years Ceylinco Insurance has invented and reinvented products to suif the diverse needs of its customers. the insurance giant has constantly placed its customers requirements in the forefront with compassionate solutions and moreover proved to be a beacon of hope during the nation`s darkest hour such as the time of the tsunami that happened one and half years ago when they became the only insurance company to settle all claims to ones who were not even covered.
One of the oldest customers of Ceylon Insurance Company which was under late Senator Sir John Kotalawala received an appreciation reward of Rs.50, 000 in giving some old documents that were used in the 60s. Ceylinco Insurance was first recognized as a true innovator in Asia in 2003 after it had won for its motor insurance scheme of settling motor accident claims VIP On the Spot.

But Lalith Kothalawala is vellified every in our OWN country by the 'JVP Thradayas' accusing him of every thing under the sun.
Lalith is accused of being a christian fundamentalist, a traitor, an LTTE agent etc etc.. He was also accused of Soma Theros death...
This goes to show what how destructive and back ward the JVP is. |
