Using water as a political weapon

Oh come on the Sinhalese folks have been living in a dream world, for how many decades have the Tamils been suffering from lack medicine, food, shelter, farmers not allowed to farm their lands, fishermen not allowed to go fishing, villages massacred by Govt forces, girls raped by Govt forces....this is the everyday life for Tamils in the North East Govt controlled areas, and for those fortunate to live in Tiger areas they have to contend with bombs being dropped by the Air force and artillery fire from Navy ships.

And when a deal was struck to open this sluice gate, what does the Govt do, bombard the Tamil people. Its a lot more than a water dispute, even the SLMM can see thru the GOSL.

Its barbaric, inhumane and just plain stupid but hey it doesn't look like the IC will not condemn the GOSL's actions, just like they haven't stopped the Israelis, so these madmen will continue killing Tamils just for the sake of 'water'.

Web Surfer,

Why do you want to bomb your own country?

You fail to realise what AnuD is saying.

Its not about killing tamils for living in SL. Its about giving the terrorists their own medicine.

Water cannot be held for ransom by a group of terrorists as its unethical and immoral. Those LTTE goons would have to realise they are playing with innocent farmers. They cannot open and close the sluice gates at their own will.
This has to be stopped. Terrorism should be eliminated at any cost.

These punnakku head plonkas don't know what is in store for them. When you come to know, it would be too late.Ponniah ponseka plonka said that LTTE's total strength is 2000 only.If it is so, at the Mutur theatre of conflict there would have been less than 200 and plonkas claim that they have killed 180 of them, some say even more than that.So it is very easy overrun 20 odd Tigers. Then why don't you try that and see what happens?

The Govt rejects the deal to open the sluice gates and the people continue to suffer. Well done GOSL. What a wise decision. It doesn't matter because it is only the poor who are suffering. This is the typical sinhala mentality.

If the LTTE is able to stop the SL military for 10 days from advancing 100 metres to the sluice gates I think there is something very seriously wrong with the SL military.

The JHU and JVP goons may have to try next. After all they were the ones who predicted that the sluice gates would be captured within 24 hours. LOL. He he he.

If there is a deal, it should be between SLGO and LTTE, not between SLMM and LTTE. SLMMs are only observers not the decision makers. SLMM should have contact SLGO first and ask whether they agree or not but they did not.
May be the SLMM does not know what diplomacy is OR they wants to save the Tigers from the humiliation.

SLGO Should attack the LTTE until LTTE open the gate without any conditions.

It doesn't have to be like the master and the slave. Water belongs to everyone in that part and cannot be held as slavery to master. So when the LTTE says they'll open they will open and when they want to shut it they'll shut at willynilly. Things don't work like that. Water is not thier own property. So the GOSL will have to take extra measures to make absolute sure that in the future water is not an issue to ltte to cause mayhem

Rays123,
If getting water to so-called Sinhalese farmers was the objective, then it shouldn't matter how the deal was struck. I mean the GOSLow has been harping on how much suffering their farmers are enduring for the past couple of weeks (let me not start on how much suffering the Tamils have been enduring for the past 2 decades). They obviously don't care about these farmers.
Now its more about pride, a foolish pride.
