LTTE plan to kill VVIP in South foiled

An LTTE plan to assassinate a VVIP came a cropper on Wednesday night when the Karandeniya police detected a lorry laden with explosives and arms on the Galle Road at Bentota at around 10.30 pm. Police took the lorry and two suspected LTTE cadres, who were on board at that time, into custody.
Information elicited from the suspects had revealed that the explosive were to be used in an assassination attempt on President Mahinda Rajapakse, who was due to participate at a function in the Galle district within the next few days.
Police said they found 30 five kilogram claymore mines, 50 kilograms of high power explosives (C-4), 200 electronic detonators, two side chargers, one 9mm pistol with three magazines and 288 rounds of ammunition, five T56 assault rifles and six hand grenades in the canter lorry which was on its way to the Divithura Plantation in Elpitiya.
The lorry with registration number 42 Sri 1281 had a secret compartment built into its floor where the weapons and explosives were hidden, OIC Karandeniya Police IP Padma Jayadeva said.
He said he acted on a tip off, given on Wednesday, that a lorry, carrying explosives and weapons, had left Kilinochchi and was heading for the Elpitiya area in the Galle District.
SSP Amarasena of the Galle Police Division had directed the OIC of Uragasmanhandiya police to assist the Karanedniya Police to seize the lorry and apprehend the suspect LTTE cadres. Accordingly, OIC Duminda Rajapakse, with a posse of policemen had also joined the Karandeniya police in the operation.
The lorry had to be thoroughly examined before the secret compartment was detected and opened by the police. Its occupants, on questioning, told the police the explosives and the weapons were to be hidden in a house at the Divithura Plantation, on orders given by the LTTE and later transported to places that would be indicated to them in the next few days, police said.
Police had also received information that the LTTE had links with some plantation workers of the Divithura Plantation and some LTTE cadres had visited the plantation recently.
A joint search operation by the Army and Police is now on in the plantation and two suspect LTTE cadres were arrested yesterday (4). The CID has also moved to the area.
Police said they have information that the LTTE will bring more explosives to Colombo and the rest of the south if the fighting in the East escalates.
Police said they were surprised how the lorry carrying such a large stock of explosives and weapons was able to come as far as Galle District, all the way from Kilinochchi, passing through so many barriers.

Motta Rala is a Godsend for the LTTE, they wanted to him to win, becasue they knew with him as the head, they will have an easier time.
So it was not MR who was the target, May be it was an army ammunition dump aor camp. |

Even if people like Wimal, somae,Ratna thero and MR go to LTTE and beg LTTE to kill them, LTTE wont do that.
MR is LTTE's biggest assest, this was probably aimed at something else.
MR wants to create sympathy amongst the populace by saying that he is targetted by LTTE. thats why he has suddenly become the target!! |

| LTTE never will try M.R , as they need this headless head to lead the Motoralas, What is could be ? I guess, military involved business went wrong somewhere ? |

| This is a tactic by the GOSL to recruit more youths for SLA from south. Threaten them that they are coming to get you and convince them to protect the country by joining SAL. |

Don't , forget , JVP was never had a chance this type military hardware access , but now as they are in government , JVP trying to move this stock to south for a storage future usage.
So when next session of TRYRE BUSINESS back on JVP , they will use this against ARMY . JVP still did not surrender its old shot guns , there is a suspicion of its failed Military action to be tried again , if M.R sideline JVP . |

I have seen thambi was repeatedly publishing (8) times the web link which has ill pated pictures. I have reported it to you. How long will you allow him to do this activity??
1. Pictures he published are ill fated.
2. It is unethical and inhuman to publish such material in a web
3. He is repeatedly submitting the same links for 8 times. You rules do not allow repetition.
4. He claimed that pictures are responsibility of GOSL but reality is still unknown
I am sure this activity is a reason to ban him from lankanewspapers.com.
Please investigate.

After that, this big crowd tried to get ahead of an Army camp. Suddenly exchange of fire was started. Unidentified LTTE cadres initiated this firing and army retaliated, people say. Around 40 were killed in this incident. |
