What surprised me the most is the venomous hostility shown towards
not just the LTTE but Tamils in general by the 'elite' here
( elite - I don't think of them as such, but for the lack of a better
collective word; the old-money, 'educated', well-travelled pompous
jackasses), the average guy on the street is much more compassionate,
good observation but i dont think this is something new. the higher yiu
climb the greater the fall. if todays environment changes and it will
definitely change i think then the well to do ones will suffer the most.
so naturally they will hoot the loudest!
the average sinhala dude fom the south is fed with daily propoganda that
they have to send their sons to protect the elites who make the decisions
and sit inside a 8ft parapet wall for security. once the average dude
realises this things will change but i have kind of lost hope that the
average dude will realize this. after all its poverty thats sending these boys
to the forces.
I guess, old Praba knows the Singhalese better than they know
themselves. I feel the 4 year lull has turned the tide; if he can
start the conflict with the same intensity as before remains to be
seen.
i would agree. he is also aware that the govt will be happy to concede the
defacto state for a decade or so in the hope that it can nudge its way
in. with the aging Diaspora tamils dont have time (TDHT). but VP is
as comiited as ever and he realises this and there will be a push.
without jaffna and trinco nothing moves!
On the personal front, one of my sisters has come back after about
4 decades roaming around, no children so no problem,

On the romantic front, guilt and a bit of the Bobbitt syndrome keeps
me on the straight and narrow. If Nada can counsel me how to
overcome guilt, I'll be in business. Besides, I haven't yet come
across anything better I would like to trade-in for.
i think the last sentence summarizes what was said in your very first sentence
in the post. not only am i happy and content, nothing in this world can come close to the
value of the byproducts! so as you say
