Lula,
I am not interseted in a discussion about this poor girl, but because your reply was so misleading, let me reply you as well.
From a leading news paper.

If it was a Sri lankan newspaper, that doesn't mean she's a big hit. Sri lankan papers like Sri lankans doing something than seeking assylum abroad, so write about them. (I saw in a sri lankan newspaper, an article about a supposedly famous actress, who is now in England. One would get a totally different idea to her real life here, if read that article). If it was a British newspaper, they publish tiny pieces of articles about minorities and it doesn't mean, she is famous, the paper was only giving equal opportunity to a minority. If it was a different country, still it doesn't mean, she's doing well. Because the industry is rich, she may get some money to survive, but she's not known anywhere in the UK, apart from among some Sri lankans who support terrorism.

I do not understand, the moment we switch on to news, the entire world talks about terrorism and we all listen to it, and still I sleep well
.
She chats only about terrorism, most her songs are about it. I can't blame her, there are many others doing the same thing but I was only wondering when you said you liked listening to her, I was a bit puzzled.

How Iraj Weeraratne Got music, Got loved and Got famous

Assistant:
Look like our 'maestro' is ready for his next album.

Iraj:
How did you know it, dear?

Assistant:
I can see you sitting down and pulling your hair on the pile of latest South Indian Films' and American Hip-Hop music CDs.

Iraj:
Don't worry dear! I will find the right mix as usual. I am a musical magician.

Assistant:
Don't disappear soon, Boss!

If the people like it,and it is what they want, then what? Let them have it.There is nothing wrong in it as long as they enjoy it because there are a lot, million times worse than it in my country.

The fact is MIA is actually more famous outside of the UK than in the UK. In the US is where she has her largest following (not surprising seeing as thats where Hip-Hop originates from), all the best Hip-Hop emcees and producers have expressed their desire to work with her from Nas to Kanye West to Timbaland. Its Nas who himself said that 'Her sound is the future'. Most of her fans are actually white and black and not Tamil. In the UK she is huge in the underground 'urban' (thats the politically correct name for BLACK music!)music scene, not in the pop mainstream. If you listen to pirate radio stations in any of the large inner city areas you will hear her songs.
