| TCK, don't twist what I wrote. I didn't ask the LTTE to disarm because they won't! All I said was that the LTTE should down their weapons permanently. Not disarm but not use their weapons and that, on a permanent basis. |

That is why the LTTE signed the CFA and went to Geneva to get it implemented fully,so that they need not use their weapons. |

But how can you implement anything with the LTTE intransigence and violence occuring in the NE everyday?! It is not possible until the LTTE itself give up violence and join the political process and also how can there be any elections in the NE, until this happens?
There was a peace agreement in 2002 after years of violence and loss of innocent lives. People could move freely without fear. The government had enough time to amend the constitution. The unfortunate power struggle between the former president and the Prime minister at the expense of peace deal completely destroyed everything achieved. All the mediation effort of the Norway government with the support of the international community proved fruitless. The golden opportunity for a everlasting peace on the island was finally lost.
