Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) is expected to be affected by the ongoing strike initiated by the union workers of the storage unit, should this continue, an official of the company said yesterday.
It was highlighted however, that it was possible that this could be resolved within the course of the day.
Meanwhile, the country`s LIOC stations outside of Colombo are currently receiving the required amounts of petrol and diesel to efficiently continue functioning with the rest of the stations are sehedvled ot commerce operations on August 7.
In response to press reports to the effect that Premier Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka would be handing over the China Bay oil refinery to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) it was pointed out that LIOC was not aware of such moves by the government.
In this respect it was noted that as LIOC was right now struggling in view of the government`s unpaid subsidies there was no possibility such moves would be taken by the government.'How they could say this, it is not possible,' LIOC Managing Director K. Ramakrishnan said.
