Bonggo,

I feel sorry for the tamils who have put their trust on LTTE although it gives them satisfaction.

Yes! fully satisfied with LTTE, for obvious reasons.First, they have put an end to these periodical pograms.Pogram after Black July was after killing of 13 sinhalese terrorist soldiers. But since then LTTE had killed 20,000 of the sinhalese terrorist soldiers. No more pograms-thanks to LTTE.Naturally the tamils will be satisfied with LTTE.

Black July
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
------------------------------------------
Black July is the commonly used name of the pogroms starting in Sri Lanka on July 23, 1983. Between 400- 3000 Tamils were killed, tens of thousands of houses were destroyed and a wave of Sri Lankan Tamils sought refugee in other countries. 'Black July' is generally seen as the start of full-scale armed struggle between the Tamil minority and the Sinhalese majority.

Black July
Government Complicity
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
--------------------------------------------------
Although it started as a spontaneous reaction by Sinhalese mobs gathered at the Kannate Cemetery where the bodies of the soldiers were to be buried, it was apparent that elements associated with the ruling Sinhalese-dominated United National Party (UNP) got involved to organize the pogrom.

Very soon mobs were looking for Tamil residents of the then capital city Colombo using the official electoral lists. Many rioters were also brought from outlying areas into Tamil commercial and ethnic neighborhoods in state-owned buses.

During most of the time of the riots, the Sinhalese-dominated police and military stood by doing nothing.

It was alleged that decisions were taken at the highest political level namely by the then president Junius Richard Jayawardene to 'teach' a lesson to the minority Tamils. It was carried out by his hard-line and rightwing ministers such as Cyril Mathew and local thugs who were aligned to the ruling party .

Eye witness accounts
------------------------------------------
The murder, rape and general destruction of property was well organized. Mobs armed with petrol were seen to stop passing motorists at critical street junctions and after ascertaining the ethnic identity of the driver and or passengers, setting alight the vehicle with the driver and the passenger trapped within the vehicle.

Mobs were seen stopping buses to identify Tamil passengers and subsequently these passengers were knifed or clubbed to death or burned alive. One Norwegian tourist saw a mob set fire to a minibus with 20 people inside, killing them all.

Mobs were recorded moving from house to house and after looting the contents, killing the occupants if found and raping women where possible and then burning the houses down.

Tamil civilians in other cities, including Galle, Matara, Gampola, Nawalapitiya, Pusselawa, Ginigathena, Hatton, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Badulla and Anuradapura were also attacked by the Sinhalese mobs.

Hooooo! Hooo! Hoo! Hooooo! Hooo! Hoo! Hooooo! Hooo! Hoo!

Unfortunately some tamil members only know 2 letters of the 26 letter alphabet. God hath mercy upon them to make them more reasonable than 2 letters, say at least 6 letters.

People there is no point in arguing with bigots who claim only 400 people died. The fact is it was thousands. These same evil people even claim today that the 470+ Tamil civilians slaughtered since MR came into power were killed by the LTTE!

The amnesty international report for Black July confirmed between 2000-2500 people died, i will paste it up as soon as i find it. The government figures of 400 are such a joke! Anyone who lived through the pogrom will tell you the truth. Who are you going to believe the human rights groups or the government which organised the genocide! Thousands of Tamils were raped, killed, tortured, maimed by the government forces within a few days, simply because they were Tamils. The majority of sinhala people will never accept the truth about their government's actions during that time (or even what they are doing now), they are either too brainwashed by the state-sponsored propaganda OR they have a warped morality code.

Here is a bloodcurdling diary of one person who got caught up in the pogram:

Here are 3 more articles recounting the personal experiences
of survivors:

Here is what the Singhala leader said in the very same month in a Daily Telegraph interview:

Sri Lanka President J.R.Jayawardene,1983
In early July 1983, President Jayawardene, declared in an interview with Ian Ward of the London Daily Telegraph:
'I have tried to be effective for sometime but cannot. I am not worried about the opinion of the Jaffna (Tamil) people now... The more you put pressure in the north, the happier the Sinhala people will be here.. really, if I starve the Tamils out, the Sinhala people will be happy..'

Gamini Dissanayake, Senior Sinhala Buddhist Minister in President J.R.Jayawardene's Cabinet
(later Presidential Candidate in 1995), addressing members of a Tamil Estate Workers Trade Union in the aftermath of Black July?83- October 1983 :

'Who attacked you? Sinhalese. Who protected you? Sinhalese. It is we who can attack and protect you. They are bringing an army from India. It will take fourteen hours to come from India. In fourteen minutes the blood of every Tamil in the country can be sacrificed to the land, by us. It is not written on anyone's forehead that he is an Indian Tamil or a Jaffna Tamil, a Batticaloa Tamil or up country Tamil' Hindu Tamil or Christian Tamil. All are Tamils. We have decided to colonise four districts including Mannar with Sinhalese people by destroying forests. A majority of Sinhalese will be settled there. If you like you also can migrate there.'

Nothing has changed, the pogram this year in Trinco is a reminder to all Tamil people that they will never be safe in this unitary state run by the Sinhala people for the Sinhala people. I simply posting this up to wake up any delusional Tamils who still think this genocidal government may oneday be reasonable to us.

This is what an European tourist later recounted:

A tourist told yesterday how she watched in horror as a Sinhala mob deliberately burned alive a bus load of Tamils... A mini bus full of Tamils were forced to stop in front of us in Colombo' she said. A Sinhalese mob poured petrol over the bus and set it on fire. They blocked the car door and prevented the Tamils from leaving the vehicle. 'Hundreds of spectators watched as about 20 Tamils were burned to death

This is how systematic it was:
From the beginning of the disturbances, many people in the mobs in the streets possessed election lists containing the names and addresses of all those who lived in particular streets. The lists indicated the houses in occupation by Tamils and also whether the owner of a house was Tamil, Sinhalese or Muslim. The possessions and houses of Tamil people were then systematically attacked. If a Tamil family were living in a house rented from Sinhalese owners, the house itself was not damaged but the furniture and property of the Tamils within it would be destroyed. In many streets all the Tamil owned shops were destroyed but those owned by Muslims or Sinhalese were spared. The same thing happened with houses. The destruction was repeatedly described as systematic and organised and similar lists were used in all the towns throughout the country where violence occurred...

If the LTTE are defeated the Sinhala government will colonise the remaining parts of NE to convert the island into Sinhala diva, they've already suceeded with the east to a considerable extent - we must protect the North at all costs from the babarian rapists - and only the LTTE can do that.

Nale,

I know the reasons you pointed out. Similarly some people have satisfaction over JVP and others over JHU etc. Whether that satisfaction translates in to peace and prosperity is another question.

Elara,
