What is your answer to the following?

'Two different nations, from a very ancient period, have divided between them the possession of the Island: the Sinhalese inhabiting the interior in its Southern and western parts from the river Wallouwe to Chilaw, and the Malabars (Tamils) who possess the Northern and Eastern Districts. These two nations differ entirely in their religion, language and manners'.

- Sir Hugh Cleghorn, British Colonial Secretary, June 1879

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The answer for the above was given by Hugh Cleghorn, himself.

This is what he wrote in the very account SHAN quoted.

The inhabitants of Jaffna consist of a collection of various races. The greatest number are of ***Moorish*** extraction and are divided into several tribes...They are distinguished by wearing little round caps on their close shaven heads. There are also a race of Malabars found here somewhat different from those of the continent. (Hugh Cleghorn, 1799, emphasis mine)

Browsing history books to quote one's view will not resolve this conflict.

Look at Pakistans: Pakistan inavaded and bombed former East Pakistan and separated into two nations:
1. Pakistan
2. Bangladesh.

This is modern history which cannot be twisted to suit
one's opinion.

Dear members

The greatest number are of ***Moorish*** extraction and are divided into several tribes...They are distinguished by wearing little round caps on their close shaven heads.
1799

Does this description fit with Sinhalese? I don't think so.

And

Same person in 1879 after governing for considerable period what he found was slightly different and he himself made the statement. Was his statement influenced by some one?

There is an important questions still unanswered and if this can be answered precisely this will make ellara history (story) an epic.

(We were able to talk about where Sangamita landed and Vijan landed and how many came with them with absolute conviction.)

This is the SL Tamils histroy to be sorted by (his- story) by the histroy expert
The question is who were the Sinhalese who were in Jaffna and eastern province fought with Portuguese in Jaffna ,Trinco and Bati and are chased away by Portuguese.

Who was Portuguese general brought Tamils for tobacco cultivation and gave away the Sinhalese land to Tamils.

Hope we will get some information this time.
