Who ever identifies this need to educate the Bhudhist monks, they have thought it through correctly.

Monks have been very racists in their behaviour, despite them being men of god, they have played a key part in the racism towards the minorities including the sinhala christians.

I think it is due to the manipulativeness and ignorance of the Monks; they want to be in control of the sinhala society. The sinhalese too follow them and believe them foolishly.

There are few monks who are different, but they are only a minority.

No wonder Rohana Wijemuni now belongs to the JHU, the monk's political party. He wanted to kill Rajiv Ghandhi.

I am not optimistic that they will learn much, there is a structural problem going back so many years.

They need hipnotists to work on them for the next 50 years.

At least now US started to realise where the problem is. This should help Pikuhs to teach peace and love in pansals (temple) instead of teaching racial hatred and terrorism.
Remember US would try this and if this doesn?t work next step would be to convert all the Buddhists to Christians. Start reading bible guys.

This is a very good thing and I applaude this effort. I think it is good thing for more people to learn tamil, not just buddhist monks. I knew at least one buddhist monk who knows tamil.

Also, a good thing is to reciprocate this type of institute in Colombo, Kandy etc. for especially young people to learn the same subjects for a fee. So this model could be reproduced either as private institutes or government institutes but where you have to pay fees, so anyone can attend these classes. It would give young people the opportunity to learn tamil and english maybe?

Also how about a similar institute in the Wanni for the tigers to learn sinhalese and also more about the sinhalese culture etc. I suggest that VP, soosai and pottu should attend such classes as a matter of urgency.

Jehan, nale, wimal22, dada555,

I suggest you attend some sinhalese classes and learn about sinhalese culture and language without writing your rubbish here.

By the way, I think largely, sinhalese and tamils are only separated by language, culture and religion. Otherwise, they are very, very, very similar people.

Tuition to sanga by USAID.

Topic

Peaceful co-existence.

Even thoughts of having good lessons make the difference. Snakes went inside mud holes.

Lack of knowledge of Tamil by Sinhalese is a grave problem we face,

But Sri lankan Tamils speaking Muslims declare clearly their willingness to abandon Tamil language. Future Muslim descendants won't speak Tamil. Will it not create another problem? Unfortunately extinction of Tamil language among Muslim in SL, would be another problem.

Forest,
Let me tell you something? I was born and lived in Colombo in my life except 1983 when state terrorists, mops and Pikhu thugs burnt our house and chased us. Still I have Sinhala friends in SL and out side SL. I do go to pansal (Temple) and love Buddhism. But Buddhism in SL has been misguided by Pikhus like JHU. Every one should understand this.
I think the film ?in the name of Buddha? (http://www.inthenameofbuddha.com/) is prime example for this

Forest, Srimal and others,

As I said before, we all spoke Tamil and then after Monks came to Sri Lanka, we all spoke Sinhalese and then again some of us started to speak Tamil.

Most of us still under the iron grip of the Mongolian Monks. They are still in control using State including armed forces under their influence. (Believe it or Not)

Otherwise all Sri Lankans are Sri Lankans. We are all same blood and flesh. We are all children of our Mother Lanka.

Looking at the reality, it is good for all of us to find the political solution, such as fedral or autonomous states within Sri Lanka.
