The way our politicians behave there wan't be a Sri Lanka in future. All MPs of governing party are ministers. All these guys have security squads irrespective of their existance. Therefore at least the Supreme Courts should have the power to intervene in the matters regarding security and how tax payers money is used by these guys

Nadarajah,

Get rid of this greedy lady

Remember one thing about this type of ladies, they can never be satisfied with anything, they won't more and more and that is what our people have to pay for keeping her as the leader for 11 years, what has she done?

Yes, buying £10m worth palace in UK, then some flats in France many more and still she wants more. OMG, why our peole are so stupid to keep paving in to her.

Priyanthy,

How are you?

I have not seen the movie 'In the name of Buddha'. But I have seen live lots of GOSL and SLAF actions in the name of buddha.

They try to hide their crimes against humanity and put all the blame in LTTE. Anyways each soul knows its actions and it will be judged my their actions not by their race when the final time comes.

SL leaders should realise that our support is only for a political settlement- Sonia Gandhi

(LeN-July 21, 4.15 pm) Any attempt to find new solutions by veering away from the path that was adopted from the Indo-Lanka accord which is a concept of the late Rajiv Gandhi to the Tokyo declaration will only further aggravate the Sri Lanka's ethnic issue, Indian Congress leader Sonia Gandhi said.

Mrs Gandhi expressed these sentiments when Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe called on her yesterday in New Delhi.

India will not be hesitant to take all possible measures to prevent a breakout of war in Sri Lanka once again and Sri Lankan leaders should not look for anything else but a political settlement if Indian assistant is needed, she cautioned.

Wickremesinghe spelled out the position adopted by the UNP with regard to the ethnic problem and added that the responsibility of carrying the peace process forward now lies with the President and the government.

The Opposition Leader also said that the government should exercise utmost care not to allow the peace process to be sabotaged over frivolous issues like fulfilling the commitments made in Geneva.

The Congress Leader said she keeps a close tab on Sri Lanka's peace process and other internal conflicts.

All leaders in Sri Lanka should thoroughly keep in mind that India's support is no for war-Indian Premier

(LeN-July 21, 4.15 pm) Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has made a strong statement that all Sri Lankan leaders and political parties should thoroughly keep in mind that India's support for resolving Sri Lanka's ethnic issue is only to achieve a political settlement.

He made this assertive remark during official discussions with visiting Sri Lankan Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe last night (20) at his official residence.

War will not offer a solution to the Sri Lanka's ethnic problem, he told Wickremesinghe and added that pursuing of any other option other than a political solution could further aggravate the issue.

The Indian Premier has also stressed that the moderate groups of both the Freedom Alliance and the United National Party should work together disregarding chauvinistic and racist elements in both parties.

Wickremesinghe expressed disappointment over lack of fruitful discussions between the two major parties to resolve the ethnic issue as happened in the past.

Though there was no factual agreement between the leaders of two major parties in the past, they constantly held discussions regarding the national problem. Unfortunately such a situation does not exist today. Many parties have outlined heir proposals for a solution, however the government is yet to come out with any concrete proposals, Wickremesinghe noted.

If the government is ready to adopt a solution to the national problem on the basis of the Tokyo declaration, the Opposition Leader said that he would extend fullest cooperation to the government, Wickremesinghe assured.
