Matt,

World is so cruel, sometimes people understand only the hard ways. Thats why people make their choices to defend themselves and their loved ones, whatever it takes

Do you feel Sinhalese as your enemies naturally? Just wondering :)

Kamini,

How are you? Hope everything is fine with you.

No. Sinhalese in general are very nice people. But they can be instigated and manipulated. Specially by the clergy. Buddishm is preached to the world about good human qualities. But things done in the name of buddha by the clergy are pathetic, cruel and babaric. (Note: I am not blaming all, but the most) That is what happend in 1983 and keep on happening till today.

Do you know in 1983 riots, some of the mobs were lead by monks? Please tell me do you know it?

All we tamils only want to live in peace with our dignity.

Matt,

I was only a year old girl in 1983 but I have heard what has happened and my family told me more about it and that was sad and I don't wish to see that again any where in our country because everyone is allowed to live and no one can take any ones life for fun or for any thing.

But I feel Buddhism is not to be blamed for people's bad behaviour where you can see all sorts of people in any society and in Sinhalese they have too, but don't think in one measure. We treasure, love and kindness to others like many do.

Petijo,

Yes. It is said you 'love your enemy'. But it is in the case enemy adhere to the norms of war and peace. But we are facing a enemy that does not follow any of those norms.

Its not just about arguing. Its about arguing for what you feel right. Never walk away when you feel that you are 100% right and other person is wrong. Fight till you get justice.

Misunderstandings happen in life. Its the part and parcel of life. Learn from your experiences. Dont make the same mistake thrice. Twice is ok. Thrice is unforgivable.

Bonggo ayya,

I hope Dr A has not left us.
He's a very polite educated member we have here on this forum. It would be a pity if he has left us.

Anud,

Give a answer for this...

1. Did 1983 riots happened or not?

2. If it happened, who instigated it?
