Sintamus,
The way you look at biasness or unbiasness of the BBC depends on what exactly you know.
For example, take the latest Kebithigollawa massacre by the LTTE. Every other media reported the incident as an act by suspected LTTE, but BBC made all the possible attempts to show the divisions in the South attributing it as an act of the south and not to accuse the LTTE. You can always find so many examples from the BBC archives.

Saliya,
Most women who work overseas have the lives of their kids fairly organised. Most of these kids offerring labour are from slightly disorganised very poor familieas.

Jillball,

BBC always quotes both sides of the statements. Just look at the BBC reports on 3 incidents 2 blamed on LTTE and 1 on SLA/GoSL. If you compare (2) and (3) below it?s obvious of BBC?s bias against LTTE as finger is pointed at LTTE while let the SLA off the blame.

Your example of accusing BBC of bias against SLA:
1.
At least 64 people - many of them children - have been killed in a mine attack on a Sri Lankan bus, police say.
Another 80 people were wounded in the attack in the town of Kabithigollewa, 200km (125 miles) north of Colombo in Anuradhapura district.
It is the worst incident involving civilians since a 2002 ceasefire. The government blames the Tamil Tigers, but they deny responsibility.
The government has responded with air strikes on Tamil Tiger positions.

(nowhere BBC attributes the blast to the South as you accuse it in
BBC made all the possible attempts to show the divisions in the South attributing it as an act of the south and not to accuse the LTTE.

2.BBC headline
rebels' shoot to kill 12
in
(url:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/5028632.stm) is very misleading and emotive directly accusing the LTTE. The statement made by the army spokesman and BBC quoted may be intended to demonise LTTE as a terrorist organisation. BBC must look at it in the light of other
accusations that the army made for example, the murder of ex-MP Joseph Pararajasingam of the TNA.

3. BBC headline,
Tamils die in Sri Lanka blast
in
(http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/5055164.stm)
though the LTTE accused the Sri Lankan military for the blast. Surely these headlines were meant to point the finger at LTTE in the (2) above but left it to the reader, that is either of the antogonists in (3).

Headlines in (2) and (3) shows that BBC is biased against LTTE and in favour of the GoSL or SLA.

BBC is accused by all parties, left and right, Govt and opposition when ever the news report does not go their way.

You must accept that the Colombo media almost all owned by Sinhalese are biased against Tamils.

BBC is the most unbiased news medium available.

Sintamus, you are right. BBC is so obsessed with 'impartiality' that very recently, it REFUSED to allow an Appeal for funds for the people of Gaza who were bombed for 22 days non-stop by the Israelis after a blockade of over 2 years on the ground that allowing the Appeal on the BBC would go AGAINST their policy of IMPARTIALITY as this would amount to supporting the people of Gaza.

One wonders, assuming the SL Forces have the capacity, whether they can bombard the North EVEN for ONE DAY NON-STOP without the entire world SCREAMING at SL.

It is really shocking that there are one million child labour slaves in SL and new legislation to control this menace is welcome news.

But the million dollar question is to what extent will the new laws be APPLIED? Will this be another piece of worthless paper while the exploitation of children continued without let or hindrance?
