MahaB,

These BBC reporters should be punished and chased worldwide

U know what the big countries like to do? try to dig the dirt of small countries and show off. That is not strange. Even UK has been good to tigers in taking their sides during the Kebethigollawa blow up.
BBC is not like it used to be slowly fitting to terrorists boots. We can't help it. They are not bothered about SL and why would they?

MahaB,

The developed countries always have a knack to see the shortcomings of the small developing countries. So this is no wonder.

Who cares about those kids work for McDonalds and Burghe King? I wonder!

The BBC historically has been supportive of LTTE, partly due to their pro-LTTE staff connections, partly due to national labour-friendly politics. In 1996, two prominent labour MP's addressed the crowd at the end of the pro-LTTE big march in London. They were not even in the government then. Since the labour party gained power in 1997, the support to the LTTE only grew by many folds until the country banned the LTTE.
The BBC also went through phases during the past decade, but hardly anything changed. The primary reason is the BBC-sinhala service which is run by a group of self-proclaimed journalists of the calibre Brian Senevirathne, either who have hardly been to Sri lanka or who are only interested in popularity at any cost.Since of late, through the ban of LTTE, BBC started making adjustments. Yet, as seen during kebithigollawa massacre, they went back to where they are very comfortable with.
Fortunately though, the other TV channels in the UK have always been anti-terroristic. Also, BBC is way behind in popularity when conmpared with other TV channels.

Why everybody's talking about BBC anyway.. this is a news story from Daily Mirror....???

This is a good news article on three main counts. One is that it opens eyes on authorities and tells us at least the minister is concerned about the issue..secondly,the news caught at least one newspaper's eye, which suggests that there still is a place for genuine journalism . And finally, this is one of the main issues that some of us have been concerned about for years especially since that madam from Maradana was caught when she had a boy chained in her house.

Good point, despite the ban LTTE has been given enough avenues to channel their finances and to hold their media briefing without infringing the status quo. The Big Bala hs never had any problems with the British government in fact he was well accommodated, the labour parties policy towards welfare and minority has actually done more harm towards the ethnic strife in SL due to diaspora sending finances which leads to ultimate destructions.

Apart from BBC educational programmes and nature programme its value has gone down considerably.

Since a major part of our female work force is working as housemaids in middle East countries who is going to look after their children?. This is the reason over one million children enslaved in child labour in Sri Lanka. Remember how LTTE traeted Police officers who tried to arrest foreigh child abuser in a LTTE held area. This is the situation other areas as well. Unless people get organized and implement a paln it is very difficult to stop these malpractices.

Those who accuse others of bias must examine themselves first. In most cases those who are on one extreme perceive all the others are bias.

BBC is the most unbiased news medium available. But BBC also biased in favour of establishment as Tony Benn hightinghted many times. Benn was a hereditory loard turned a commoner to contest parliamentory elections and also worked for BBC in addition to being a long standing Labour MP and Cabinet Minister.

While in Jaffna for 7 months including Dec 05 and Jan - March 06 we found BBC to be the most reliable. WE listened to LTTE, EPDP, SLBC and Sakthy radio news. Only BBC gave the most reliable news. BBC has high quality reporters and analysts whom the audiance trust and believe.
