Aganthukaya and ML
I'm also in SL and i'm completely with you guys on this... Another stupid move by our government :)))
they tried to ban tv broadcasting after 10pm to save power when facts were in the open saying it wasn't gonna save them any significant amount of electricity...
I don't think that just by knocking out the competition you can improve quality of anything not especially on creativity if that's the issue here... You can't build the weak by pulling down the strong... These programs have captured people's hearts... it might be lame or of poor quality but end of the day...the have acheived their objective...
what our artists should do is instead of complaining about the competition and trying to close them down... go ahead and take the bull by the horns...
I'm a creative person in an ad agency and i know from experience that there are enough and more creative and talented people in the industry... We need competition to push us and improve...
This complaining done by the film industry is utter BS... film industry died long before private channels started taking over the scene...
Governement is being stupid trying to curtail foreign material...It's like them wanting everything to be sinhala...
I'm a sinhalese but this is pure stupidity... There are few typical sinhala buddhist jokers in my office also absolutely applauding move... these buggers hate english stuff...don't like the culture knew nothing about tsunami's untill it hit SL etc. etc.
But what gives them the right to decide for all of us...
tv's come with remotes...if anyone doesn't like to watch english programmes etc....why can't they just switch the channel in to rupavahini or swarnvahini and let the rest of the people decide what they want to watch!
idiots of the highest grade...
i'm sure these monks will try to filter internet also...
bunch of frogs in a pothole...
they all want foreign cars, posh phones, foreign medical knowledge etc etc but when it comes to people's choice... local material is the best...
hypocrites! |

Teach them bridge instead of UNO. Lil kids of course cannot play. Otherwise it is fun.
Also, there is power UNO where the card pack is put into some battery operated gadget and you press a button. That is way better than regular UNO. |

Dauntless,
If you can't beat them just let them be...i mean your office friends...
What you can do is get FTA Sat kit ( wonder thye might ban them too?), you can get cheap one for under Rs. 10,000 and if you can spend a bit more you can get some with CAM(Conditional aceess modules)slots....you would be able to watch loads of international channels and its not rocket science...
I think Kumarasinghe radio or Silvertone are selling some FTA stuff these days..and if you walk down Malwatta street you are bound to find pay per view cards..pirated and genuine.
Lucky our monks don't have technology to stop FTA signals..

When a country is run by a set of idiots, this kind of things become order of the day.
People get only what they deserve! |
