Rajapakse stated that he too favoured power sharing with minorities but his leading ally, the Sinhalese-Marxist Janatha Vimukti Peramuna (JVP), was opposed to any devolution that gave the hint of a federal framework of governance.
Mahinda's calculation comes back to haunt him. Banning LTTE in other countries will not give MR a blank cheque to force unitary state to the minorities. ither he has to drop JVP/JHU from his dream or risk separation.
Being one of the moderate Tamils it must be made abundntly clear that Indian Quasi-Federal model is out of the question as it's too late and too centralised. For example, the central Govt dominated by ruling elites should not be able to dissolve the federal state for any phony reason. Yes, it was acceptable in 50tees and 60tees but things have gone beyond relying on the goodwill of these dishonest leaders. |

it is no point in complaining, cobra does not use vulgar words like some other members, thats why he escape all the time!!
he is winding us all up n taking us for a ride with his ignorant behavior.

Berty in the eyes of sinhalese it is a dirt to be a Tamil, it is the lowest of all lowest thing for them.
I do not 100% agree with you on that point thambi. You know you get very nice & decent Sinhalese people around too. You should or you can say majority of Sinhalese think that way!
If we go to that extreme it sounds awful and I will never say that to any Sinhalese!! i am sure you will agree with me!! |
