MrLanka,

the war should be carried on between the LTTE and the government forces. Stop kill civilians!

I agree with this statement,no one except the extremists will diagree with you. Most Sri Lankans of all communities want peace.

Are you very young? Didn't you hear that even before the militant groups were founded there were riots and destruction and killing of civilians happened in 1956, 58, 65, 71, 75, 77 and 81. Do you mean that Tamils must keep quiet and get the punches and killings without reacting. Violence breed violence.

Those who have sophisticated weapons such as F-16 and Kfir bombers bomb civilians though they actually target LTTE or insurgents. Bombs cannot discriminate people, they kill all on their way. Those who have no weapons use the ultimate sacrifice to become suicide bombers to attack the enemy.

Also you must have heard that killings take place now only in Northeast, therefore victims can only be Tamils and Muslims apart from those occupying soldiers and LTTE cadres you seem not objected to. Civilians are killed by the army, navy, air Force, paramilitaries and LTTE. So the Singalese civilians are spared at least for time being, which is a welcome sign. But when the war starts all will be affected.

Only way to avoid war is for both SLG and LTTE be sincere in seeking a reasonable soltion through genuine peace talks.
Let the SLG implement what it promised in Geneva I first. All the killings will stop, then go for peace talks, Geneva II.

Sintamus, my friend

I am not old enough to remember any of those riots, but I have read about some of them. I am trying to keep my self up-to-date with what's happening in Sri Lanka and I am interested in Sri Lankan history, so I have read little. Of course no one, whether they are Tamils or Sinhalese, should be quite if something terrible happens to them.
I agree with you that the SLG and the LTTE should start talking again. I believe that is the only way we could get a lasting peace. As you probably could understand from my earlier post, I don't feel any anger towards Tamil people. I just feel a lot of anger towards the LTTE, for what they have done to the people of Sri Lanka. But I long for peace and just wish they would stop all this. But it's always easy to start a war but difficult to stop it. All Sri Lankans should live in harmony with each other. I think one important thing is to unite all Sri Lankans under one wing... we should show the LTTE that we had enough. They can't kill all of us.
Suddenly a crazy thought struck my mind. We should organize the biggest demonstration ever, at least the biggest demonstration Sri Lanka has ever seen. How about that? A demonstration with both Sinhalese and Tamils. I have heard that so many Tamils support the LTTE with money. I have heard that many Tamils support their struggle. (Yes I know many of them are forced into giving them money or forced to join their army.) I think that if they could choose, they would definitely choose the road to peace.
My age by the way is 27.

Peace and love to all the Sri Lankans in all the world./MrLanka

MrLanka,

the biggest demonstration Sri Lanka has ever seen
for peace in Sri Lanka IS a brilliant idea and most people of all communities will support.

Most expatriates who help LTTE are affected by the SLA treatments. I tell you a short story to illustrate it. (At the same time LTTE or Karuna should stop extortion of money and recruitment of children.)

In 1987 a small made boy of 16 years old but looked much younger was going home with his mates from his school, Heartley College. He is my close relative. The SL Army stopped all those boys and told them to form into 2 groups of under 16 and over. Because this boy was 16+ he went into over 16 group. All those 16+ students were loaded into a boat (or ship) and tied to posts under burning the sun to be taken to Boosa camp in the South. He said for 4 days those boys were not given even water to drink and many collapsed due to dehydration. They were tortured and still you can see the scars on them. We in the UK tried hard and used our influences to get them released from the Boosa camp. Most of them were got down to UK as students or refugees. They never had a chance to see or experience the better side of Sinhalese. They hate SLA/GoSL and give most of their hard earned money to LTTE. We urged them to care for themselves more than LTTE. But we are not that successful.

I also talked to many LTTE cadres in Vanni and stayed with them. The females are quite friendly gentle lovable humans. I asked them why you gave up their future and make up and things to become Tigeresses. Their answer was that if they were in their villages they would be arrested and in many cases raped and killed. They want to fight and die as marters and not as victms.

This is a vicious circle, unless the GoSL is genuine in its approach to peace talks instead of undermining LTTE and urging the foreign countries to ban LTTE, LTTE won't take the Govt seriously and enter into dialogue.

The silent majority must express their views loudly and the ruling eletes must be stopped from ruining the paradise island further.
