LTTE in utter confusion on Rajiv assassination

Amidst the growing opposition against the LTTE rank on the Balasighamâ??s comment, pro LTTE Tamil papers quoted LTTE spokesman that their chief ideologue Anton Balasingham never really apologized for Rajiv Gandhi's assassination on NDTV or owned responsibility.

Balasingham, the group claims, merely regretted the killing. Some pro-LTTE Tamil papers have also claimed that NDTV edited and thereby distorted the interview.

However, NDTV said that no section of the interview was tampered with. For clarity, NDTV republished the text of Balasingham's interview in which he regretted Gandhi's killing.

NDTV: Is that why the Rajiv Gandhi assassination happened?

Balasingham: We fought a guerrilla war against the Indian army for two years and finally the Sri Lankans.

We had a negotiation with Sri Lanka and secured the withdrawal of the Indian troops in the 90s and of course, it was finally followed by the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi.

As far as that event is concerned, I would say it is a great tragedy, a monumental historical tragedy, for which we deeply regret.

And we call upon the Government of India and people of India to be magnanimous to put the past behind and to approach the ethnic question in a different perspective

Boru hila,

TC does not attend his Sinhalese lessons. So I take that he wants to keep his broken Sinhalese for long.
