I don't know why the hill country tamils have to suffer due to the insane, extremely violent and barbaric activities of the LTTE which they have never, ever, supported and have nothing whatsoever to do with and my guess, will never ever have nothing to do with.

These are the bad tidings that the LTTE brings upon other tamil people, let alone the sinhalese, who have nothing do with them or no relations with them.

Forest,
I don't know why the hill country tamils should suffer..

I think you should ask this question from the sinhala state terrorist government, which is responsible for the present situstion prevailing in the island, rather than asking others.

I call it 'Insel Loesungen' == 'Isolated solutions' .

If you want to fight a sickness effectively you need to find the cause root of the sickness and treat it accordingly. And not treat the symptoms.

1. Making Tamil and Sinahala compulsory for each and every child in the country from the age of 6-7 is the right way to go. And once they have sat for their exams in grade 5 they should be given the chance to choose their first language and the second language. And at the gce O/L the language tests should consist of 70% of their 1st and 30% of their second language. Apart from that English should be compulsory and should be taught to the children from the nursery itself. And at the exams English should be be examined in a second exam. (this will be lot of work for children but its possible)
This has been told by many men and women over the past 10-20 years and our politicians have shown no interest.
And now they are implementing so called 'Insel Loesungen' for adults. How the hell are they going to learn the language in a given period ??

Living bombs are everywhere, and the registrations are not only for tamils but other races also must register in !!

I find it is correct to control in this manner to prevent and avoid terror attacks

2. And now the Tamils should get them selves registered!! are they so dumb. This will only be an eye washing act. The real LTTE culprits will escape these tests wonderfully. Instead they should:

a) Start a Pilot project(Colombo 1-16) to introduce 'DIGITAL ID CARDS' with a non forgeable technique.
b) Give all residents a period of time to exchange their old ID cards for a new one.
c) And in this time if there are any visitors (be it Tamil, sinhala, muslims american,europeans..extra pp) who wants to reside(more than for 14 days--can be argued on this) in these areas should also get such ID cards.
d) and once this project proves to be a success, plan to introduce this to other parts of the country.
e) But the ID cards should be issued centrally, applicants should be allowed to forward their applications at their designated town hall(with a police certificate).
f) and to provide an effective controlling of civilians all police departments should be networked to a 'central server'. (In countries other countries, the police is able to control foreigners with out such ID cards, due to the high standards of technology that they have implemented to control civilians)

Instead of paying stupid ministers, something useful should be done.

(This is not a fine print, mind you)

Lula,

Ur absolutely right!! The discrimination started in the Mid 70's and that is the reason VP shot Alfred Duraiappa!! in 1975.
Most of the Sinhalese do not actually understand what really the Tamils went through. It was JR who actually -removed-ed it up!!

Dear LuLa,

The latest but stupid decision of Mahinda will certainly bring more tension between India and Sri Lanka and he will certainly understand the real consequences due to his foolish policy against Indian Tamils in Hill country.

This will certainly help sinhalese unemployed thugs to steall these poor workers properties and poor earnings under the pretext of security.

Economically there is nothing except tea in Sri Lanka and the main working forces are Tamils of Hill c ountry.
Now the most treacherous sinhalese racists race in this world wants to harasse Indian workers.

Now it is left to the Indian gouvernment to take nec essary action to pounish this small barren Island and cut all economic aides and should inform Indian travel operators to not to send Indian tourists to this racist Island.

I agree!! You want to do something do it for all Citizens!!
why only ask the Tamils in Colombo to register!!

Tamils are sri lankan nationals and tax payers as well and they are issued with National ID cards..

This is total discrimination. We all know it very well!!

Smart ID cards are common in developed countries..but SL has a long way to go!!
