This is discrimination on the basis of one's RACE and is in breach of the International Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination. Asking someone to do more work without additional benefits, on the basis of their RACE has the same effect as denying someone their earned benefits on the basis of their RACE.

Justman,

Today the terrorists in the country are from the Tamil community and it is obvious to look for them, the terrorist from that community thus the registration and checks.

That is the easy way out. If Sri Lanka seeks to be a part of the International Community or has the obligation to be a part of the IC due to the assistance it receives, then it has the responsibility to ensure that it follows International Standards of Administration at least at policy level. This new measure is the parallel of Sinhala only policy by the Bandaranayake government.

Can you guarantee that not one Tamil who FEELS Sri Lankan would not be 'punished' by the persons in these positions of authority who have the power to use the governmen't directions to their personal advantage? If a genuine Sri Lankan feels the pain it is far more damaging to the nation than when the government loses credit at the physical level.

Saman34,

No matter How long, How good, your post is, no Half Land. period.

This means you have limited yourself to the physical level. You therefore cannot 'know' or 'feel' the work done for self-sufficiency. I see you at the same level as the Tigers. Hence you do not have the authority to express a conclusion - as if you were above them.

There are many sinhala terrorists as well who are used by the LTTE. So why don't you make it compulsery for every one to register irrespective of race. Then you can find a lot of people who are hiding from the law too.

My dear Gaja,
Who cares about intenational conventions when a country is desperatly fighting for it's life?lets not fool our selves, the present terrorists are from this perticular community, except for money hungry and greed business men and the others who are aiding the terrorists.America has turned their back on this convention and IC court of justice for the moment as US have to reckon with the loss of life of so many on that 9/11.Quite correctly US is after their terrorists in Afghanistan and other Muslim countries and not going after the Eskimos or Maoris as it was obvious which type is responsible for their tragedy and likewise we know which type is responsible for our tragedy, which also include our conniving, corrupt leaders, who deliberately prolong this conflict.so hang the international convention, the convention that encouraged the minorities to rebel against a country,as it was very profitable for them. Not every one is fooled in this world.

GOSL just pushed another group of moderate Tamils who were on the fence towards the LTTE.

This is going to come back to bite it in the hills than in Colombo.

Tarquin,

It won't be long before the sinhala state enforces a pass system for the tamils to leave their homes. It is time for the hill country tamils to support the LTTE.

Serves the Tamil community right, as they are to lazy to get rid of the LTTE mad dogs themselves. This is a good move and should be implemented in the interest all concerned.

I repeat my call to peace loving Tamils... round up LTTE mad dogs and force them to leave or kill them.... and seek power through political process.

GOSL... great step in the right direction.

Every tamil who is asked to register must donate funds to tigers to blow another place in colombo asap.

No problemo.

SLA should get bust in the meantime to get maximum Tamil blodd spilled by the Tamils themselves.

Divide, divide, divide and kill the LTTE mad dogs.

With this screening, still some LTTE killers and suicide mombers staying in the south may escape by paying huge sumes of money to people in the south.

So, there should be intel inbetween these things to catch those corrupt police officers and others. Those who give information about these and those intel who catch these things must remain in extreme secrecy and they must be rewarded handsomely with money taken from those corrupt officers or by doublecrossing LTTEers.

There should be one group who get bribes, they will inform the other group who will arrest these people.
