India cannot condone `dastardly` Gandhi killing: Minister Anand Sharma

New Delhi, June 27 (IANS) The Indian government Tuesday said forgiving Sri Lanka`s Tamil Tigers for the 1991 killing of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi would amount to endorsing their ideology of terror.

Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma told NDTV in response to Tiger ideologue Anton Balasingham`s comments: `The people of India cannot forget the dastardly crime that was committed by the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam).`

Balasingham had earlier told NDTV that the LTTE considered the May 21, 1991 killing of Gandhi was `a monumental historical tragedy` and that the Tigers `deeply regretted` the assassination.

Sharma said Balasingham`s statement was a `confession on their part of their complicity in the assassination of our former prime minister. This has been a well-known fact for the last 15 yeas. LTTE leaders have been charge-sheeted and declared proclaimed offenders.`

Responding to Balasingham`s plea to India to show `magnanimity`, the minister said: `That would be tantamount to endorsing the philosophy of terror, violence and political assassination. People of India cannot forget the dastardly crime that was committed by the LTTE.

`It is easy for them to say ... India is for peace, stability and unity of Sri Lanka. We have been supportive of the peace process. We hope better sense will prevail and all issues in Sri Lanka will be resolved in a democratic manner.`

Sharma also ruled out any direct role for India in Sri Lanka`s peace process.

`The LTTE is a banned organisation in India and it is also a banned organisation in many countries. It is for the LTTE to renounce violence and return to the negotiating table.`

This is Anton bala confessing his evil actions before the death. I think he is at the final moments of his life.

He wants to be clean at the expense of those bunker rats in Kilinochchi.

Some how, the TV station who went to talk to Bala is in trouble with the Indian govt, today Lankadeepa reports.

Condition for forgiving is as below:

Someone has done a criminal act by mistake. This mistake is not a human killing or such a level of disaster. Since then, he has not done any mistake and seriously worked. In such a case, it is possible to have a forgiving.

But see the LTTE, it is leaders and supporters:

They have killed Rajive
Continuously attacked military
Killed all politicians
Destroy all Tamil leadership
Money, arsenal and other illegal stuff collection which threat the Asian region
Try to destroy the leadership of India by any-meaning.

I do not think India is that much fool though its policies are somewhat vague.

Love

Bala

Thousands of Tamils were killed by IPKF. India should have the decency to apologise to SL Tamils.

So, forget the past. Time for reconciliation minister.

LTTE did a terrible mistake back in 1991 by killing the PM of India.

And again, they did a mistake by admitting that after 15 years for political gain.

LTTE believes that world is blind as their followers.

Lots of crimes have been committed by big nations in war time. They took charges and apologised to the people. India should do the same thing. How is it amounting to arrogance?
