LTTE have realised that there is no way out in this long drama without a peaceful intent. War would not bring them what they seek after. Since the Kebethigollawa blunder LTTE knows it would be even a bitter pill to swallow if they take the aerial war route to power sharing. This response to peace envoy reflects their position and its also apparent GOSL feels in the same line of negotiation following recent statements by MR. MR slowly realises that war is the last resort and as politicians do they take time to realise.
The question is how many more innocent lives have to be spared for them to realise the importance of peaceful negotiations. |

Gaja acca,
couple of personal Q's if you dont mind
Mr. Shiva Pasupathy coming forward was a big step for him
i vaguely remember a pasupathy who went to SJC and then flew off
to Australia. does this person have kids in the mid 30's
Mrs. Rasanayagam is the daughter of Mr. Sri Khantha who was actively involved in the
independence movement
Could this Sri Kantha be Sachi Sri kantha, whose writings i love to read. |

Priyanthy,
I have dealt with the Good doc for a long time. He is a good man and hasnt advocated War but he sometimes doesnt read into a lot of stuff thats happening.
Dr A,
ofcourse LTTE will respond positively. remember they are nation building which takes a lot of time. dont think the rent-a-pilot outfit can scare them. more damage can be done do the economy by a couple of well placed bombs in the heart of the country that will send the economy nose diving and the country back a decade or more.
the last time GOSl agreed to a CF was when the country experienced -ve growth. a fact that a lot of sinhalese conveniently forget.
so have to you been following the cricket. havent seen you around in a long time. (un)fortunately we have been paired up on the thomian thread! |

DrAkai,
LTTE is against war not because they are scared of it but because now that they have liberated 70% of the teritory they set out to liberate about 25 years ago and wants to build up a defacto state in the liberated teritory and give peaceful live for the long suffring tamils. To build a defacto state you need peace .One cannot do that in war situation. That is why they declared unilateral ceasefire twice within 13 months and are trying to preserve the CFA amid severe provocations by the govt. But on the contary the sinhala state terrorism is the only one which wants war to disrubt the LTTE's plan.Even Weeramonkey mentioned that if the CFA is going to last for another five years,Thamileelam will be established, and calling for the govt.to start the war and defeat the LTTE. |

Tck,
more damage can be done do the economy by a couple of well placed bombs in the heart of the country that will send the economy nose diving and the country back a decade or more
Exactly, this is why I mentioned that MR has commented his commitment to the peace pact (not sure on which basis, have to wait and see). On the other hand the response by the LTTE shows that they have realised there is no point in dragging the stale situation, which I see as a positive sign from them. This may be a fresh start so as if the government to consider their stand point on the precarious CFA. I am sure this would mean a fresh stint of negotiations yet again.
I would not see both LTTE and GOSL have any intention of launching a full scale war at this juncture. Simply because its a huge liability and both parties are well aware of this. LTTE don't want to be cornered for another 25 years, do they? So this may be the reason that they are coming forward for yet another stint. I am sure MR is slowly wearing Ranil's boots than launching a full scale war and get paralysed by it.
Yes, in the Royal-Thomian thread I've seen the Captain has paired you and I in the team (not sure what pairing up
is?) |

Priyanthy,
you have expected the LTTE to repond in a negative manner...This very well shows that you want war.....Do you???
Not exactly. I would have thought responding to Oslo envoy makes the tigers more responsible to their cause than blatantly fighting and killing. This is my under line understanding. Have a look at what I wrote to Tck. |
