CID on trail of three more rogue TV stations

Police sleuths are on a hunt for three television channels, said to be operated without a valid licence. The channels have been identified and are likely to be sealed off within the next few days.
It may be recalled that the CID sealed off television channel CBN Sat a fortnight ago alleging they had operated without a licence. However, the owners claimed that they were in possession of a valid licence and the matter is now before courts.

| I dont care what the government says. Ordering CBN to shut down transmission at the nick of world cup 2006 and telecasting the shows on Rupavahini instead, smells like rotten corruption to me. Even if it is not a question of weather the propper authorities have not being paid enough or whatever...the people who loose from this situation is and will be the people who paid much for the CBN connection and subscription. I have just one more request from CBN...just do what they want and get my connection up and running...this Rupavahini is ruining the spirit of world cup |

| LBN, one of these cable TV providers who were sealed off recently have been operating for more than a year - the question is why didn't the authorities take any action before? Instead they chose to wait until they had more than 30,000 subscribers - most of them paid 12 months rental in advance (which qulified them for discounts) and effectively stranded them... I'd say the authorities are as guilty as the providers here. |
