well I have recently become a racist I know. But im only against LTTE not ne one else, I seriously dont care if its federal unitary or bunnytary as long as this problem is solved. SLA kills civilians (may be) but right now LTTE kills more and they are definitely a thirstier killing machine than SLA. Unfortunately a lot of people have believe in them, a person who reads tamilnet from another country would think Sri lanka is like Bosnia, you and I know that in S and W there we dont treat tamils differently and as your from peradeniya there are more than enough tamils lecturers in very high positions. So as the university of moratuwa. Well im not from any of them but I know some people.
N and E is like a cancer the governments have failed to handle the extremism and the terrorism. This has also prevented the tamil voice being neglected around the world. Tamilnet is a sick website they classify people form their ethnic origin. Every issue published by tamilnet has ethnic confliction builtin.
But once again if the tamils around the word are not kept on pins then they wont fund the war, the more they show the more money they get. They all talk about history and human rights whilst they them self send the kids to war and say some bull story to cover it up. This is worse than what America is fighting against, even they have some respect to children and women whilst the LTTE will do any dirty thing to justify their cause.
If they can kill their own breed for sake of mono tamil representation (competition) killing non tamils would be inevitable. |

In a war like situation, you cannot avoid some of sivilan casualities. I think that is what they were talking.
For example,
In Vietnam, Afganistan or Iraq wars, thousan of innocent civilans have been killed, tortured and suffered.
But SLA is very careful and the leaderships has been very sensitive to the international pressure in connection with N-E fighting.
For example, SLA/SLpolice did not act in N_E the same way they did in south in 1987-1990 period.
I do not belive some of these facts and the credibility of the reporters. May be they were paid writers like tamilnet.com.

When did the LTTE ever, I mean EVER constructively engage with ANY OTHER GROUP OF PEOPLE IN THE ISLAND?!!!! NEVER!!! I have never heard of any LTTErs ever sit down and talk CONSTRUCTIVELY with any other group of people. I wish they did!
Also, why you talk of the sinhalese as if they are the evil incarnate and the devil?

1st, in 1950s -70s they said they were 'invaders' and dont belong to Sri Lanka
2nd, in 1970s - 80s they were jealous of them holding high positions and being wealthy and successful in business, which promted standardization policy for university entry
3rd problem was LTTE
4th problem was that they did not want Tamils to have any aid for Tsunami damagr
5th problem, they do not want them to have a federal state

I may go to the sri-lanka cricket festival. But my mum and dad would, I think, definitely go but this time I may not go, depending on if I am busy or not. I went before twice! Great fun! |

I am with you. GOSL must addres the issue without delaying a second. But I also in a openion, that LTTE should stop this right now.
As the general public, we can do only a limited things. Within this forum, lets try to express our feeling and thinkg to the world.
I condemn any racisim among sinhalese, Tamils, muslims or indians. I did not have any such bad experience though I was a Tamil in majority sinhalese area Matara-Kandy.
