Dear forest

how can you implement a federal solution without creating the necessary environment for peace.

the government of srilanka cannot even implement the signed agreement CFA which is so essential to create that environment.

why on earth, the CFA gave so much importance to the paramilitary issue? every one knows why the paras are there on the first place!!
surly these para elements are the cause for all these upsurge of violent 100% in the gosl controlled areas.

if the gosl , disarmed the paras as agreed, we would have had come to some sort of solution by now.

why on earth , the ltte proposed the ISGA in 2003? the gosl agrees to the isga or not is not the point but the ltte emphasized it's willingness to end the conflict by dialog.

the gosl must take full responsibility for all these mess not the ltte forest.

Forest,
Negotiate with international mediation.

The Tamils did negotiate with international mediation, and what happened to the decisions taken and the agreements made at thse negotiations? Can you mention any one of the decisions implemented by the govt.?Why the agreement made at the Geneva talks is not implemented by the govt?
Now, can you tell me, why the hell, the tamils should talk to a govt which will not implement the agreement reached at the negotiating table?

Nalin,

I see your point. Yes I tend to agree with your analysis

Current approach is to first A and B to get into agreement and use C to impose it on D. (and by default on E).

This wont work anyway. That has failed once before the indo-lanka accord.

However, I feel the more practical and more workable approach should be A, C and D to come to an agreement and try to sell it to B and D (people).

Yes this is the best option. But dont you think thats what is happening ? I feel LTTE has already told the IC that not a single package will work with the south unless there is alignment there. For ex PTOMS, IGSA and even parts of CFA.

I feel the IC has asked GOSL to put their position down. My feeling is that MR has been told to fly a kite if he wants to devolve power with unitary state. Anyway you cant cos there are sections in the constitution that doesnt allow you to do so. Hence why PTOMS collapsed.

But anyway I still want to see mangala and anura tie the knot. I feel the whole country will be in agreement for that. LOL. Oh man what a honeymoon that would be.

CFA is not a constitution. You cannot even legally challenge it. Hence why for all the noise the JVP makes about the CFA it cannot challenge it in court. When its not a legal constitutional document you cant enforce it on both sides.

Not only GOSL even the LTTE has violated it. Because this aint a legal document thats why you have SLMM.

Personally i tend to agree with all the tamils here that the chances of anything happening is very slim unless the south goes in uprising against the GOSL. That wont happen cos they know the LTTE cant be trusted either.

This is why i have been saying making peace in SL is next to impossible. Even if the LTTE gets eelam without recognition there will be constant aerial bombing by SL cos the international community would silently support it. Then LTTE would be forced to attack colombo.

This is why i said before so many times that PEACE is not an option anymore for sri lankans. We have never worked for it. Tamils and singhalese have never worked for it. But when i say that everyone says i am a war monger.

All i am saying the practical reality of the situation. BUT if MR cant sell devolution to the south NO LEADER in the south will be able to do it cos he is a southerner. The son of the soil so people will accept when he sells it.

If its unitary state you got to keep fighting to defend the south and capture North & East. If its separate state you got to keep fighting forever cos even if the whole army is kicked out of the North & East. SL air force would still launch attacks. The economic embargo will come in and north & east will never develop. Its all very well to sit abroad and say oh yeah we can manage cos we want to feel freedom inside etc. Well you aint living there. Try living in a bunker with constant bombing where no one comes to your rescue and then say it. Dont say that from an internet chat room!!.

i agree with you with the rest, apart from you calling the CFA is not a legal document.

if it is not a legal document , the gosl should not sign it.
above all the CFA is controversial one include more than one country within two parties.

let say , if Norway calls off or gosl give 14 days notice to the Norwegians to cancel the CFA , thats when the CFA BECOME VOID AND canNOT consider as a LEGAL DOCUMENT between the parties.

ltte is waiting for the gosl to start a war first, thats when the ltte will start a law suit at the international level while fighting.

so the message here is, call off and cancel it or fully implement it as agreed.
