Malaysia, Singapore `clearing houses` for LTTE? - Mangala Samaraweera

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera suspects Malaysia and Singapore may be `clearing houses` for funds raised around the world by the LTTE to finance its struggle for a separate homeland in Sri Lanka.
He did not provide any details to support his claim, but in an interview with the New Straits Times he said that he had informed his Malaysian counterpart, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, of the matter. Sri Lanka also offered to share intelligence with security agencies in Malayasia. Colombo had information that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam may be channelling money from sympathisers to bank accounts in Malaysia and Singapore, he said. The funds were then used to buy weapons.
He said this finding dovetailed with the fact that most of the procurement for arms was taking place in Southeast Asia, especially in Cambodia and Thailand.
?The Malaysian, Thai and Cambodian governments are taking this very seriously,? he told the NST before leaving for home after attending the Non-Aligned Movement meeting here.Sri Lanka is trying to find out how the Tigers are moving money into Malaysia.
?The process of channelling funds raised in European Union nations and the United States to Malaysia and Singapore is rather complicated. This is why we are seeking the co-operation of countries like Malaysia,? he said.

Even at the beginning, Malaysia was aware of tamil problem - makers. Malaysia also has tamils. Because of that some educated tamils who wanted to establish there did not get permanent residence.
Now they are barking in the forum. |

UK Tamil / Vela kunaa,
A person's intimacyuality is not the problem here,....
The matter is what's he doing, I think he is doing a pretty good job compared to An-ura, and he is getting closer to the job done by Kathir.
It's the biggest problem for pathetic LTTE supporters. Once they are being banned by each and every country around the world, and the foreign leaders are hiding and running for life, it's understandable how those pathetic narrow minded pro LTTE'ers behave.
There is no one in the Sri Lankan government who has a clean record, not in SLFP, UNP JHU or JVP. Even in the LTTE there is no one, so why bother..If he is doing the job for the country, that's what matter...
All the countries around the world hate LTTE except No-way !!
Norway (No-way) will also feel the heat as soon as someone send a bullet through Solheim's A55. I am waiting for that moment.
Everyone was waiting for the chance to get rid of LTTE, it's a huge pain in the a55 for them. Now EU banned the LTTE, and the other remaining countries will also follow it with the wave/trend.
We know it's a huge blow for the LTTE and the pro LTTE'ers for their activities, you have to bear it,....
Don't think about Mangala's or any other's intimacyuality,..Ask what LTTE 'so called delegation' did at Thailand... Looking for teen girls.... That's child abuse, and it's a very familier thing for LTTE.... Being a 50 year old virgin or a gay person is not a thing here,.... Try to understand using the thing called 'Brain' inside your skull, if you don't have one, please get help from someone who has it ! |

I don't know whether intimacyuality is more important to you than the job he is doing. There are a lot of politicians, scientists and other business figures are in his category. Do you need examples..... I can't understand what's embarrassing in his intimacyuality...
I think you have not given up your colonial mentality even if you are residing in the UK, it's time to change your mentality my friend, there are a lot of bachelors, gay people, trans intimacyuals in the UK, try to understand it. Didn't Elton John get married to a guy ??? in UK....... It's normal in these days, change your mentality......
So what can you say about the embarrassment for LTTE when 'so called LTTE Delegation' sneaked to Thai Brothel houses looking for teen girls, isn't that embarrassing for LTTE..
How about your so called theoretician being drunk in Tokyo hotel and couldn't pay the hotel bill...your savior Erik Solheim paid by Norway taxpayers' money....
Isn't that embarrassing ????
Ooohh I forgot,.... LTTE doesn't have SHAME !! Oops,,. They can do any disgusting thing,... They are not embarrassed !!! So do the supporters.... I get it.... |

| Singapore is not too happy with SL,trying to compete with them on the airlines, container ports etc, perhaps they might smile when our air line was blown or when Trinco is non functioning as a commercial port and this might shelter and tolerate the terrorist fund deposits there, after all they see us as competing with them. |

I say Mangala You may be right.
When you guys got Karuna through to your side with all the promises of earth and heaven and transported him to Colombo through one of the Muslim MPs, his family was first despatched to Kuala Lumpur through Singapore by Patriot Kadir and Anura the waste.
It was belived that the family was housed in Kuala Lumpur in one of Patriot's close pals' house who is a Malayali Malaysian who is also is a lawyer. Thereafter Karuna went there through Madras.
So Mangala you are right, it is not only a clearing house but a dumping grounds too.
I will tell you, you guys are a bunch of A-grade jokers without any policies what so ever, just a rudderless boat. |

So, the Tigers are being recognized to be smarter than the Singapore and Malaysian governments. Could it have something to do with the Indian Tamils in these countries finding an avenue to express their own discrimination pain?

Folks:
To understand which countries are DEEPLY concerned about Sri Lanka and it's importance, one must look at the world map.
Our country's value is known only to outsiders and Sri Lankans who are living abroad. The bountiful resources (including human resources) are being exploited by the foreigners or going waste.
Let's go back to the late 1970s era for a while. At that time, Sri Lanka was poised to match or exceed Singapore economically. S. Korea, India, Malaysia were just awakening along with Sri Lanka.
These countries never raised a finger when India was actively training and unleashing the terrorists in Sri Lanka, jealous about the progress the small country was going to make.
Here's why far eastern countries have deep interests in Sri Lanka:
a) Sri Lanka is very much closer to the lucrative European
markets... 5.5 hours less flying time.
b) Sri Lanka was a competitor for Thailand's tourist industry, offering excellent value for money... with so many diversified attractions.
c) Two brands of cars (Mazda & Fiat) were getting assembled in Sri Lanka... (Where were S. Korea. Malaysia & India in Auto Industry)
d)The Sri Lankan rupee was floated, liberalizing economy...making imports cheaper.
e) So many joint-ventures were being started to re-place imports... saving fex for the country.
In a nutshell, these far-eastern countries who were once called 'economic tigers'... passively or actively supported the 'fake' Tamil tigers' struggle.
I still believe these countries would not be happy campers, if our conflict gets resolved.
Even now India and several other countries are licking their lips to the take a bite off our resources, at the first opportunity they get.
Young Sri Lankan leaders... realize our potential, unite the communities and protect our resources in order to bring economic benefits to our folks.
Or to use a good-old management term... do a good SWOT analysis and plan to save the country. Edited By - vinivida - 1 Jun 2006 03:24:57 GMT |
