| The Bottom line is that if Lanka was not run by idiots then perhaps we would have a chance at peace and some form of prosperity. As it stands now we are a country of largely uneducated people who continue to vote for corrupt clowns that only make things worse for those suffering. It is a sad day when I say that I am truly ashamed of my home country. You often hear Lankans complain about rascism in western nations, but Lanka is worse. In Lanka there is hardly a visible difference between people and they still try and behave superior. There is no superiority of ethnicity in Lanka. Right now there is a superiority of stupidity. What a shame for the few resources our poor island has to be wasted on idiocy! At this rate we will join the dredges of the world in no time. Good job Lanka, the boys played well! Butt-heads! |

It is easy to start the war again in SL
1. Kill a popular Tamil Journalist or
2. Kill a popular Sinhala Leader (eg: Army ChieF)
LTTE and GOSL are not matured enough to take the peace process forward.They are emotional people and acting like kids.
In both 1 and 2 above the GOSL is at fault
1. Cannt find who is killing tamil civilians/ cannt protect tamil civilians
2. Army cannot do its job properly ( improper checking at the army camP)
I believe the Army Chief should retire as a respect to the people of Sri Lanka.
How can we move forward under these conditions ? Edited By - VaseeMe - 19 May 2006 03:59:50 GMT |

| Its sheer madness that we wait till the West solve our problems or think they sympathaise with our problems. Can you tell me one single action they have done for the benefit of Asians. In the first place all our problems are created by them. Every problem or disaster in our areas (like tsunami or terrorism) is an opportunity for them to barge into our internal affairs and desatbilise our countries. No problems in our countries means they can't control our countries. Now China and India out of their controls. Not that they don't have problems, no longer they ask these wolves for help. We have some societies among us who help the West to interfere in our affairs. Converted Asians are the Trojan horses in our region. This is what LTTE doing? |

The GOSL if they are serious about making a settlement should stop all killings carried out by it in any form.
For this soldiers should be given proper traning and respect for human life.
Put forward a solution that is acceptable to all communities.
No one ask for the final solution but to talk there should be something to talk about.
Forget every thing happened and talk about present and future.
Histor taught in schools needs to be changed to a way that students from all communities will feel an ownership and sense of pride of country.
No point carving out any proposal in paper if the common man behind tamil person back call them a dhemala.
It is the reponsibility of the politician to creat this atmosphere.
They have to realize that they are the goverment of all people and if Tamil people are being killed its their responsibility since they have failed protect their citizens.
These criticisms are just the begining. For the western world tamil or sinhala we are all the same. If you don't take action now you will be sorry very soon. |

Dear Friends..
A word about the government current approaches.....
GOSL should have a clear strategy and a well defined plan on solving the N/E problem. But, it seems to be that it doesn't have it now. The GOSL (mainly President MR) is dancing according to the rhythm of JVP, JHU and some narrow parties. This is very dangerous. A very small mistake in this path will lead to a unavoidable status of the country...
GOSL should either understand the issue clearly and either destroy LTTE by war approach (I'm not sure how far it will be success ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT POLITICAL EFFECTS IN SOUTH) OR should understand a deeply understood and studied political solution to every nation and relegion (by ignoring mainly JVP and JHU)...
Today, it seems to be that GOSL is following the first path. The dangerous is, GOSL is going on it without having clear vision, strategy. Only think GOSL is expecting is winning majorities hearts (may be for political stability, not for countries stability).... |

EU bans Tigers organization
19th May 2006 - 00:50 S..L.T
European Union has decided to name the Tigers organization as a terrorist organization and ban its activities within the EU countries. Representatives of 25 countries which are members of the European Union met in Brussels yesterday and arrived at this decision.
It was also decided there to bring a motion in this respect to the European parliament. Sources say that it would include a proposal to disarm the Tigers organization.
Theoretician of the Tigers organization, Anton Balasinghem had said before that a ban on Tigers organization within the EU countries would make a negative effect on the peace process in Sri Lanka. Media and organizations sympathetic to the Tigers organization had given wide publicity to this opinion, but the European Union in utter ignorance of this argument has decided to impose a ban on Tigers organization.
The assistant commissioner of the US state department in charge of South and Central Asia who came to Sri Lanka recently also emphasized that Tigers organization should be banned in EU countries. The government of Sri Lanka too on several occasions before this has made this request from the European Union.
Critics believe that the ban on Tigers organization within European Union will put them into serious difficulties.
This would jeopardize the Tigers? plans to win the sympathy of the international community and massively block the flow of funds to their organization.
Critics had pointed out even before this that this decision would help defeat the Tigers and would create a conducive environment to bring about peace in Sri Lanka. |

Poor Brainwashed LTTE supporters, Read This:
European Parliament resolution on the situation in Sri Lanka
........
115. Calls on the EU Member States to do everything in their capacity in order to stop all illegal attempts by the LTTE to uphold a system of forced taxation among sections of the Tamil community living in the European Union;
16. Calls on the Commission and the Member States, as part of this process, to follow the example of other countries and to freeze the assets of the LTTE-associated bank accounts, holdings, companies or undertakings in Member States of the European Union;
17. Recognises that the EU has declared that delegations from the LTTE will no longer be received in any of the EU Member States until further notice, and that the EU is actively considering the formal listing of the LTTE as a terrorist organisation;
18. Calls on the Council, the Commission and the Member States to remain committed to a fair and sustainable solution to the Sri Lankan conflict and reiterates its support for all the people of Sri Lanka and their President, Mr Mahinda Rajapakse, as they address together the challenges that lie ahead;
