Thursday, 11 May 2006 - 8:58 AM SL Time

In the wake of the LTTE`s recent suicide attack on Army Commander Sarath Fonseka, the government is to import nine bullet proof cars for the exclusive use of ministers and dignitaries who are said to be under Tiger threat.

According to reliable government sources the nine brand new armour-plated Mercedes Benz S 300 cars each costing Rs. 120 million has been ordered from Germany.

The sources said two cars have been already airlifted to the country through local agents, Diesel and Motor Engineering Company (DIMO).

You bloody idiots; Change your Attitude. That's the best proof. You rascals in the name of security you are plundering the innocent publics' money and hard earned foreign exchange.

When you come to politics your principles, wisdom and action should protect you. If it doesn't then you are not capable to be in politics.

The Us Army is the most protected with state of the art technology and still hundreds of bodies are flown back to their country. What's the use????

Change your f*****g attitude and the whole nation of citizens will protect your lives.

This is daylight robbery.

Athos,

TATA started with Benz co of Germany on a 25 year joint venture. After the said period continued it's march solely on TATA brand.

The President and Prime Minister and the entire cabinet of Indian politicians run on their own branded Ambassador cars. Even when Rajiv Gandhi came to SL in 1987 he chose to drive in his own Ambassador.

They love the nation. These buggars are good to ride on the CTB.

Fairplay,

I think there was a proposal by UNP to use the Ambassador or the locally assembled Micro as official vihicle. The idea was shot down by JVP of all people.

I have been on Ambassador, the stock standard taxi on the road is not very compfy I must admit. They also manufacture TATA cars that are more comfortable with more uptodate features. This could be a compromise if they really care about saving public money.

-cheers-
