`Apologise` JHU urges Akashi
Sunday, 7 May 2006 - 11:15 PM SL Time

Yasushi Akashi has been urged to clarify a remark to Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in which he has reportedly said that UN Peacekeeping Forces might have to be deployed in Sri Lanka.

'This statement is a blatant violation of all accepted norms and protocols of an envoy of a friendly nation against another,' the statement issued by JHU General Secretary Omalpe Sobhitha thero stated.

Akashi has reportedly told the ABC that the UN forces might be needed if full scale war breaks out in Sri Lanka.

Accusing the Tamil Tigers for the escalation of violence, the JHU says the international community maintains a 'deaf and blind' attitude towards LTTE`s violence and attempts to 'deliberately jettison' the talks with the Sri Lanka government.

The party recalls that it was former President JR Jayawardena who 'came to the rescue' of Japan when international powers tried to press charges against Emperor Hirohitho after the WWII.

'He told entire world that 'Hatred cannot be cured by Hatred- citing the great teaching of Lord Buddha,' the statement said.

But the Buddhist monks` party urges Akashi to help Sri Lanka 'to combat effectively LTTE Terrorists'.

The statement has also accused Akashi of working on a hidden agenda to divide Sri Lanka citing an example from his personal involvement in Yugoslavia which 'paved the way for the destruction of that country'.

So,
Mr. Akashi is in a tight position!!!

At one end there is a battle dress clad terrorist who refuse to see him...on the other end there is a terrorist clad in a monks robe asking him to apologize..
....what a wonderful world!!!

Japan should stop funding the GOSL and get the hell out of Sri Lanka. The yaks are an ungrateful breed, even if you clothe, feed and shelter them, they'll stab you in the back!

When the christian clergy could indulge in politics why cannot the Buddhist clery has a say in politics. Politics and religion should co exist.
JHU was right in asking the Japanese envoy to apologise. And he should. Because they are rich nations they think could say anything and get away with it. They should know their limits.

If Akashi has made this stupid comment, he has exceeded his mandate and he should be pulled up for that by all concerned, including GOSL.

GOSL however, should continue to use Japan's influence to bring in whatever pressure to defeat LTTE's goals.

Foreign countries are fast realizing LTTE terrorists' bogus 'liberarion' struggle where Tamils in the NE have ended up living at gunpoint in a murderous dictatorship.
And LTTE's involvement in robbing foreign governments' welfare money to fund terrorism in Sri Lanka.

The heat's on the LTTE mad dogs... from all sides... keep it up folks... a fuse, like Karuna, would soon blow!

If Mr Akashi is walking on a tight rope he better be well hooked on to it than losing the credibility.
