Prabha won`t meet Akashi
Sunday, 7 May 2006 - 5:16 AM SL Time

A request by the Japanese government for its special envoy Yasushi Akashi to meet the LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran has been turned down, a spokesman said.

Mr. Akashi before arriving in Colombo had made the request for the meeting with the LTTE chief, but the LTTE had informed him that he could only meet with their political wing leader, S.P. Thamilselvan. LTTE spokesman Daya Master told The Sunday Times yesterday that Mr Akashi could visit Kilinochchi on Tuesday for the meeting with Mr. Thamilselvan if required.

Mr. Akashi is on a four-day visit to Sri Lanka to discuss with the government and other parties the current crisis in the peace process. He is due to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, Chief government negotiator Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and others.

There is no need to meet Akashi as Srilankan govt is playing game with Tamils and the international community. Sri Lankan govt doesn't really believe in peace talks.

Can MR Akashi change MR? His bro GR and SLA? He can go and see Avisawella and Nelliyadi insted of meeting VP. He can see himself decapitated Tamils bodies thrown to feed the stray dogs in view of Bhuddha Jayanthi.

Dear AnuD

Velupillai Prabhakaran has other important thing to do rather than poses for the picture. He virtually ran all the operations and functions of LTTE. These meetings do not take us anywhere. Why Akashi pressures damn SL government and threatens it with Japan will withdraw its monetary assistances to Sri Lanka other wise it goes to talk with LTTE?
