Star TV Lanka launched SATnet last week with a refreshing dimension of Direct to Home (DTH) satellite covering the whole country on a 24 hour basis.
SATnet brought two leading brand names in the world of entertainment, Star TV of Hong Kong and Dish TV of India, with a total of 110 channels of uninterrupted, crystal clear images with theatre-like stereo sounds, said Chairman/Managing Director of SATnet Lakshman Hulugalla.
As both Star and Dish use different technologies, each service is provided independent of the other. The main benefit of DTH service is that the viewer does not miss anything because there is no redistribution, editing or seasoning. It is relayed direct to subnumbers from the satellite with no intermediary, he explained.
`The distribution of SATnet is vast as the network of showrooms of Hayleys Consumer Products will be used to market the SATnet range of products,` Hulugalla noted.
The Hong Kong based Star TV offers an exciting array of TV channels, the favourites being National Georgraphic, History, Adventure, Star Movies, Star Sports, ESPN, Channel V, Fox, Star Plus, Gold, Sky News etc, Viewers also get an electronic programme guide, which is a listing of programmes for the next four days, he said.
Dish TV has more than one hundred channels including songs, movies, music, news, lifestyle and fashion, factual, regional and children`s programmes.
SATnet (Pvt) Ltd, is wholly Sri Lankan owned company which commenced operations in 2001 and has provided connections to individual homes, hotels, offices and apartments.
It is the only licenced provider of individual connections to all parts of Sri Lanka, Hullugalla asserted.
