Act now to avert disaster, says UNP
Wednesday, 19 April 2006 - 3:05 AM SL Time

The main opposition UNP warned yesterday that communalism was raising its ugly head again and the government had miserably failed to maintain the ceasefire agreement or the peace process.

The party`s Assistant General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told a news conference that the government was mishandling the situation and as a result some 250 security forces personnel had been killed after President Mahinda Rajapaksa assumed office in November last year'with nearly 50 troops or policemen being slain in the past week alone. He said the country was heading towards destruction and the government needed to act effectively and bring pressure on the LTTE to get back to the peace process.

Referring to the crisis in Trincomalee, Mr. Attanayake said the government was not revealing the real situation while communalism was on the rise.

Gampaha District parliamentarian Jayalath Jayawardene said it was clear that the Government had no choice but to safeguard the ceasefire agreement which it once attacked.

He warned that a return to war would be a disaster for the country.

Dr. Jayawardene said the UNP was seeking direct talks with the government on the current situation but President Rajapaksa had not responded.

NOT COMMITTING for anything has been one of the characteristic of Mahinda Rajapakse's life. Mahinda assumes by NOT taking any RESPONSIBILITY, the problem will be solved by it self. A DEAF and DUMB tactics. And believe me it works too. Most people like inactive bosses who don't order them around. In government service they called them 'Honda Manussaya' (a good man). Good men with zero productivity to be precise.

But now the situation is different. Mahinda Rajapakse is the EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT of the country. The most responsible job of all. People expect some responsibility. The more time he waste on president's chair doing nothing, the more harm he is doing to the country.

Now over 250 security personal killed in his 4 months in office. Mahinda has no answer. Peace talks in disarray. He must decide what path he is going to take. He must safeguard the lives of security forces and people. Just sit and eat Kiribath wont do.

Radaw,
Do not expect miracles.
He has no clue at all.

As you rightly said and as he had always done, his strategy is:

Just wait without doing anything

That is the strategy that brought him to this position today. Perhaps he believe that it will take him for another 11+ years.

Mahinda Rajapakse is no different from Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Just after the 9/11, RanilW had very good opportunity to discuss a strong CFA. He did not use the opportunity. INstead, he gave everything to LTTE and spoiled them. If he had a little bit of brain, that was not the occasion to use carrot and stick approach with LTTE.

That was the time to beat them a little bit more and get them to go for talks.

Instead, he gave Elephantpass also as a reward,

RanilW did not understand how many soldiers were demoralised because of that.

If UNP did everything right they can talk these things. But, UNP did the same thing.

ANUd please tell when did Ranil W give elephant pass to tigers? It was lost in 2000--an year ago before he took the country in 2001 December.By that time there was nothing to lose-Clear your eyes.

So he surrendered the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka.

This is the ONE and ONLY thing MRs catchers have to thow up now. Everything that happens in this country is still Ranils fault.

During the past four months over 250 soldiers have been killed, but Motta rala has no response. If this happened during the time of Ranil, all these jokers on this forum - AnuD, P*SSY forces (aka Special forces), 109% wijesingha etc etc would be HOOTING like a pack of wild monkeys. Today the standard response is 'its Ranils fault'....

However the only response Motta Rala/Motta P*ssy has is that charming smile and the red towel and ofcourse PLENTY of PUNNAKKU for his supporters... As they say - some idiots can be fooled all the time...

When ranil took over not only Elephant pass but many of the Key camps in the north was gone - killinochchi, Mullaitiv, Paranathan, Mankulam, and many camps north of Omanthia. The situation was such that India was offering help to withdrwa the soldiers from the Entire Jaffna Peninsula. The Airport was attacked and the entire country was under seige. The economy had suffered its first negative growth in the HISTORY OF SL.

In reality, vast tracks of the North and east was controlled by the LTTE. All these HOOTING monkeys could have never gone to anywhere in the North east even before Ranil. What the CFA did was, ON PAPER, recongnized that the LTTE controlled territory. This was always the realiaty.

If recognizing ground realities, ON PAPER (through the CFA) to give the country five years of peace is so bad, then please tear the CFA to shreads, like you promised, just four months ago. Although Motta rala doesnt say this openly, even he has accepted the need for the CFA.

MR might be a Brainless Jack ass who hasnt done a a darn thing in his 35 years in politics, but he has mastered the art of feeding bucket Loads of PUNNAKKU to the idiots. He criticzes the CFA and then goes to Geneva and agrees to everything in the CFA and everything the LTTE demands. And then turns around and gives another PUNNAKKU bucket to the idiots.. and what do these idiots do???? HOOT!! Beautiful strategy.....

Ground reality is that drug dealers sell drugs, Kasippu dealers sell Kasippu. Should Ranil accept this ground reality and legalise their businesses?

If you think you can compare legalizing drug dealers activities to the CFA signed by Ranil, then you must be having a little brain as some of the other MR supporters here. If you dont have anything intelligent to talk about its better to keep quiet rather than publish your nonsense here.

People like you always dont look at the whole picture. You just have this one little thing on your mind and you just keep ranting on and on about it. Its funny that even MR has seen the reality and the whole picture here, and thats why he continues to support the CFA. Only his punnaku eating supporters still hoot about this issue, while MR had clearly moved beyond that. Tell me, What has MR done so far which is anything different than Ranil? Has he kicked Norway out?.. Has he torn CFA to pieces?..

Half-sized brains do not need feel dejected when arguments are put up for people with intelligence. However, they can do good kamma and wish they had a better brain next life.

Bravo! I must say thats quite the post for intelligent people. Maybe for people with your level of intellectual capacity. You know, the JVP thinks they are intelligent too and so does their supporters who are even below JVP level of thinking. But I think we all know the truth about their intellectual capabilities. :)

Adel,

No comments on MR's actions eh? I thought as much.... It is for people like you he said at election campaigns, 'we will shred CFA'. And by the way, You are comparing a man who has trouble communicating his ideas to the masses (Ranil) to a man who lied and fooled millions of people like you to come into power. I guess you are still having trouble with the comparisons huh.. Well keep working on it...
