9 killed, 40 wounded, 6 Tamils shops buring in Trincomalee

Widespread looting continues in Trincomalee town and six Tamil shops have been set on fire following a bomb explosion at R.R.Group Grocery store. 9 people have been reported killed and more than 40 injured, according to TNA parliamentarian Thurairetnasingam. Thugs armed with incendiary devices assisted by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) soldiers are said to be involved in creating the mayhem, according to news reaching TamilNet. Black smoke is seen above the town and residents are fleeing Trincomalee town.
Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) officials have allegedly told reporters that the situation is uncontrollable and that they are remining indoors.
No other details are available at the moment. |
