What does this mean?
A correction would be welcome:
Quote
S/Sri Lanka has more connections with Kerala than Bengal! I hope this is the reason place names in jaffna are still with some Bengali names.

Tamilscanuck wrote. Qote;?If you feel that statement doesnt have Religious Hatred written all over it thats okay. for starters its not ANIMALS it an ANIMAL.
Gaja Lakshmi wrote. Qote?In Tamil they say that the elephant is worth a thousand pieces of gold - dead or alive. Also, in Hinduism, the dung of sacred animals is burnt and the ash used as Holy Ash - to denote wisdom. Tamils already know the value of Holy Ash from sacred animals. The elephant is worshipped my thousands of Sinhalese - including at Kathragama.?
So who says about DUNG OF ANIMALS being used by Hindus?
So tamilcanuck and tigress19, are two of you just dumb, blind or want to play your racists card here?
It appears to me that rubbing holy ash from 'Animals' did not bring much wisdom to both of you .
tamilcanuck , if it is not 'Animals ash' but 'animal ash 'then re educate your Gaja acca before you come charging at me like a mad cow. Edited By - magha - 28 Mar 2006 14:59:13 GMT |

Magha,
I didnt realise it was a quote by Gaja acca that you quoted.
MY apologies. But let me tell you this.
there is a difference when i call another tamil a panangkottai and when you call him that because its an insult when you do it.
A black man can call another a nigger but both of us cant use that term
likewise when you speak of hinduism i find it insulting.
((BTW, which animal dung you use to rub on your forehead to gain more power if you are a Hindu? '))
but i do apologise for misunderstanding your quote. |

Sanskrit Tilaka (?mark?), in Hinduism, a mark generally made on the forehead, indicating a man's sectarian affiliation. The marks are made by hand or with a metal stamp, using ash from a sacrificial fire, sandalwood paste, turmeric, cow dung, clay, charcoal, or red lead.
So using of Elephant dung is Gaja Lakshmi?s own creation. She not only mislead members of the forum but also e mailed to many others as she showed by posting here her e mail address book.
So if Ash from Elephant dung is used to achieve power and cow dung for wisdom then excrement of Rats she may be using for ?rat race?.
She still did not answer whether it is the Bull or the cow depicted on the Jaffna University emblem. |

Waruna,
My email list is primarily made up of those who sought to share their life with me and those whose life I seek to share. Others mentioned by you may be more important to others than to me - however high their positions may seem

Thank you Anantha for that very interesting and relevant lesson in history.
I note with interest that Kalinga MAGHA - the Pallava King - established Jaffna Kingdom. I am intrigued by the common name that Magha has picked for himself in this forum. May be with time, Magha will act true to his name.
The importance to Nanthi comes through your work. It's usual for my community to call these sacred animals Vehicles - rather than guardians. There are guardians of the temple - but we believe that the Deity does not need to be guarded. Likewise our Spirit.
I feel confident now that the Pallavas work will protect the University of Jaffna.

Magha,
I realise more and more that you are a Black and White person and that you cannot work with shades of grey. This is why you look for spelling and typing mistakes. In other words you are capable of good administration in a well structured system but you would get lost in a weak system that Sri Lanka is - because you do not know how to use your mind to lift the physical to the higher plane - as a good manager like me would.
The Elephant itself has been lifted up to stand in its own rights. It is NOT a vehicle like the cow / bull is. It's the difference between Intellectual solution and physical solution. I was not misleading but I did not stop you from misleading yourself
