Bongs,
I saw this in The Morning Leader, thought it was funny, anyway hope it's not something that offends you. I suppose you should write a piece on the true meaning of Halal for the benefit of ignorant infidels like me.
Has anyone heard of Halal pork?
Recently I made a phone call to one of the leading hotels down south to make a hotel reservation for the weekend with my family. Being a concerned Muslim I wanted to know whether the hotel served Halal food i.e. food in compliance to the Islamic law.
He seemed to be clueless as to what Halal meant. Then I asked him if they served pork. The reply that I received shocked me. This is what the guy had to say, 'Yes we serve Halal pork.'
Apart from the funny aspect of this incident, it goes to show the ignorance of the hotel staff. I would like to know how many people in this country actually know the true meaning of Halal? I humbly urge all the Muslim leaders, clerics and the community as a whole, to create public awareness as to what is Halal and what is not for the benefit of all Muslims.

Ha ha ha... Muslims don't eat pork. Period. That's why there can't be anything called Halal pork. :)))))
Basically halal means permissible, so basically when you see a halal logo, this means in Islam it's allowed.
Ha ha ha halal pork... good one... I'm going to start asking this from hotels and restraunts just for laughs. :)))) |

HGGB,
Why should it offend me mate? It was super funny. I felt sorry for that ignorant hotel staff member.
'Halal' simply means permissible in Islam as against 'Haram' which means forbidden. So pork is Haram. |

I also heard about the Halal Pork in England. Whats the difference between Halal pork and the normal pork which Muslims don't consume?

Thanks for that, I didn't know what Halal meant.
I knew that Muslims didn't eat pork. You'll hate me for this ... when we were boys we tricked a Muslim friend into eating a whole dish of sweet and sour pork, he just loved it, gobbled it down like there was no tomorrow! Just a prank that boys play. Anyway no one was struck by lighting or hellfire, I suppose the man above sees the funny side of things.

HGGB,
You are absolutely right, all for fun's sake.
I suppose the man above sees the funny side of things
How could it be not possible when the man above Himself has created the funny side of things?
As for the article you referred to by a Muslim gentleman I put the blame on such characters too. These buggers should know that you can't expect everyone to understand what you believe and what you don?t eat. If you have a doubt simply ask ?do you serve pork,? even after that if it is doubtful don't eat meat. Eat fish or be a vegetarian. One must understand that a majority of non-Muslims may ask or think, what the hell is Halal?
P.S.
read my reply above :))
