Bongs,
I need to revive this
What is this I hear that you are in the sunny isles drinking Val penilla? Don't tell me the ole' Excalibur has lost it's shine. Man, if I were you I'd cut it in two and double the usage while the going is still good, sorta burn the candle at both ends. Or get a plate of Puffer fish at GG's bistro, that'll cure you one way or the other!
Anyway mate, nice to here from you and enjoy your stay in the sunny isle, I can just picture you. I'll be there in December just counting the days. |

HGGB,
Infact back to base since yesterday.
Burning the candle at both ends will diminish it soon. The wicker can take only so much.
Fish is a good idea but not at Bistro, at St. John's. BTW there is one Bistro in Duplication Road Bambalapitiya. |

Bonggsy,
How's your vacation ? Mine was good, we were a bit busy though,... Couldn't do certain things we've planned. But overall good. Tasted all the food I couldn't for two years. The heartbreaker was I couldn't meet some of my friends due to their busy schedule.(and ours too)
It seems to me, the life in SL is a battle. Everyone is fighting for their share,.. I was totally surprised to see how people are spending their busy lifestyle...We are blessed here,....We still have time for ourselves and others in our days....

Ha ha .... ever heard of slow burning wickers, everlasting all day all night kinda stuff?
Fish is a good idea
Fish is off the menu, off topic, taboo ..... too sensitaaa..ve.
But speaking of beef, ever heard of 'fish bistake' in SL? It's fish done beef steak style, I suppose. That's why I always miss the bloody place. Only in the sunny isle but where else?

Don't know no Bistro, mate. There's a bordello down Duplication, but with hordes of groupies to choose from, I suppose you wouldn't need an introduction eh? |

Piya,
It was short and fine but HGGB thinks it is otherwise.
The one way traffic seem to be working well despite the occasional errant drivers who are still not used to it.
It seems that most people are resigned to the fact that this this their fate. Few years ago such high cost of living would have brought the government down. Many people are yearning for a UNP comeback as you know stomach fire is more important in the end than the multi-barrel fire.
Despite the media onslaught against Ranil he seems to be getting popular, by doing absolutely nothing. 26th July will be premonition of what is ahead.
On th 18th Government organised a big rally in Colombo to celebrate the military victory in the East but the vast majority were going on with their chores, being oblivious to that fact and not even bothering to raise the national flag despite a request by the authorities to do so. Evidently the government's effort to gain political mileage from the military gains was in vain. |

Even the slow burning stuff will diminish faster if both ends are burnt.
Fish is off the menu, off topic, taboo ..... too sensitaaa..ve
Dont worry I have washed the odour off with the help of turmeric and salt.

You did not quite understand you see, they were in fact beef eating fish. They call it gavamalu but my favourite is galmalu.
That's why I always miss the bloody place. Only in the sunny isle but where else?
Well, once the bloody phase is over it is the best place to be, with galmalu, aanamalu what and what not only in the sunny isle :))

I was not aware of this, perhaps you are referring to a warehouse!!

HGGB,
In this instance the difference is, they drive the wrong way, not knowing the new system. That reminded me of a joke:
One day when Sardaji was driving he received a call from his wife saying to be careful because she heard on radio that one lunatic is going the wrong direction on the road where he is driving.
He replied 'not one, all the lunatics are going the wrong way!' |

Is this the new system where people drive into the city on the Galle Road and drive away on Duplication Road? It was there in Feb when I left. I think it was pretty good except if you happen to go to places on Galle or Duplication Roads in that stretch. I had an old aunt living on Duplication near Liberty P, she rented her house and moved away, had enough of the noise. When they build the house in the 60s it was a very nice residential area. |
