Lol..... It takes all sorts to make the world! He is a good friend of mine from the political columns days. Well I suppose, he is not the fastest gun in the West, and I don't agree with most of his views, but in the end don't think he is a bad sort. |

Hello Darling? Just got back from a nice break, all rejuveneted!
Coca Cola, Sony, and many others
Coca cola is one of the best picks if you are into single stocks.
US government treasury bonds
FYI..China dumped massive T-bonds in to the market in April, Bonds are not my forte to predict. Who knows may be China will invest the money in other American securities.
Las Vegas with a little sprinkling
LOL...I'll rather be one of those 'Folies Bergere' in barely-there costume :)
I am also entitled
Of course..you have sort of Jeremy Ironish charm on us!
Thanks for the tips on real-estate and JKH, A friend recommended the same. As for me I am not into single stocks much, except I have invested on Apple, Intel, Ford, Colgate & Lehman stocks. Apple I have personal interest since they come up with innovative cool stuff! I've bought apple just before they introduce the cool PC at $40.00, and the stocks have sored to $122.00, Other stocks were purchased during the internet bubble burst, the price dropped and was time to move in. Lehman stocks had two stock-splits since I had them so it keeps growing.
long term growth
Mutual Funds, I personally like to Tango with aggressive (equity) funds, since I am still young and I can take risks. Fidelity Investments (well reputed) I have FSPTX (Fidelity select Technology), FSPHX (Fidelity Select Healthcare) & FBIOX (Fidelity Select Biotechnology), For you, (at your age:))) you should go for more Fidelity Freedom Funds, pick more conservative funds. If you are serious about investing I would recommend you to join Fidelity, here's the site www.fidelity.com.

Bongs,
Here?s one for the road.
Here's one I just got. I am not too sure about ole' Ruwani and her dedication to the ole' hubby, but it's more like other gals on LNP Penn and GG, so what ever happens don't ever clap.
Subject: Eleven People on a Rope
Eleven people were hanging on a rope under a helicopter, ten men and one woman.
The rope was not strong enough to carry them all, so they decided that one had to leave, because otherwise they were all going to fall.
They were unable to decide who would let go, until the woman gave a very touching speech. She said that she would voluntarily let go of the rope, because, as a woman, she was used to giving up everything for her husband and kids and for men in general, and was used to always making sacrifices with little in return.
As soon as she finished her speech, all the men started clapping.
SEND THIS MAIL TO AN INTELLIGENT WOMAN,
SO THAT SHE HAS SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT TODAY

GG,
Just got back from a nice break, all rejuveneted!
You have already forsaken men, what is there to rejuvenate?
Of course..you have sort of Jeremy Ironish charm on us!
Thought, it was more like Benny Hill. I like ole' Jeremy's portrayal of Von Bulow, put the ole' wife in a coma! Penn should thank her lucky stars she's not married to ole' HGB!
Two good ones.

In the second, don't agree with all what she says, yet interesting reading.
China has $1.3 trillion in its reserves and is therefore, King of the Mountain. Japan has $900 billion and is no longer holding new currency so all the red ink in trade is no longer staying away, it is floating back home to here, as inflation. Europe has about $600 billion and Russia, $330 billion. The USA has only $66 billion and the numbers released today by the Federal Reserve shows that number is DROPPING. Yikes.
Shall write later, gotta run. |

[SOMETHING TO SMILE]
Lol..thank you for making my day :)
[what is there to rejuvenate]
Forsaken? kidding me no way :) All work no play makes me a dull gal!
[Benny Hill]
If you have the looks of Jeromy Irons, and sense of humor of Benny, bhoy I'll be in trouble :)
[The Bank described China's booming economy as 'unstable, unbalanced, uncoordinated and unsustainable' ? a comment apparently made by Chinese premier Wen Jiabao.]
This I agree 100%, Just like anything made in china, breakable. Thanks for the article, very intersting point of view. Great Depression ? Should I stash some cash somewhere?
[And if we think of these funds as boats, then China has Noah's Ark, Japan has an aircraft carrier, Europe has a holiday cruise liner, Russia has a very fancy yacht and the USA has a rowboat made out of an old bathtub. That is leaking.]
Thanks for the site..Interesting analysis, although some of them are qestionable...Hmmmm...Cruise liner & fancy Yacht, very tempting thought. Russia has come a longway. But sad to see the gap between haves and havenots is widening :(
BTW. have you been following on 2008 Prez election, ? I still undecided!

GG,

It's more like the looks of Benny Hill and humour of Jeremy Irons! But lets say, there are ways of making it work!
This I agree 100%, Just like anything made in china, breakable.
I think what is more important is the health of the US economy, which no one is brave enough to talk about, it's manyfold worse than China's. Just imagine all the petroleum producing countries shift to Euros and everyone holding $ dump them, what will hold the $ up? Saudi and many other middle-eastern countries won't do it because they need American protection to guard them from their own citizens and China and Japan wont dump them at once because they will go down as well, but they see it and now are taking measures. It' inevitable, the best one can hope is for a gradual process, not a crash, but one is very likely.
Should I stash some cash somewhere?
I think gold is the way to go, because currency will be useless, the only way America can solve their debt problem is through hyperinflation.
Russia has come a longway. But sad to see the gap between haves and havenots is widening
Forget Russia, what do you think of the gap between the haves and hanenots of the US?
BTW. have you been following on 2008 Prez election, ? I still undecided!
No, all the candidates are so hypocritical I want to puke, we just get our things done, don't get carried away much, whoever comes we'll be alright. It's only a refuge from what's happening in SL.
But I hope there will be a balance between the two parties, all the mess is because the Reps controlled both the houses and the presidency, nothing like what happened during GWBs has happened before. Bin Laden cant destroy the US by himself, what he provided was the catalyst for the US to destroy itself. And the Americans are well on their way, just look at the Patriot Act, whose freedoms has it taken away, Al Keidas?

HGB
health of the US economy
I do agree with your point, however I think the U.S. economy is still strong and very competitive, depite the trade deficit. some might argue deficit numbers are not a sign of strength.
Look at the new consumer goods, new methods of production, new markets, new forms of industrial organization in the US. Have you heard of 'creative destruction' ? The US has harnesses this process (destroying the old one, creating the new one) and made it work to constantly improve global economic standing. Sure China & India and the others have entered the game, history ain't what it used to be.
As long as the Feds does it job of holding inflation at bay, and let the private sector get on with its work, and no interference from terrorism or natural disasters, US will remain the world's predominant economic power.
Forget Russia
Let me ask you a q... which country in the world give you more opportunities to pursue your dreams through hardwork, courage to acheive prosperity. Russia? True there is a gap between haves & havenots, The difference is in the US is Sky is the limit if you want to close that gap.
Reps controlled both the houses and the presidency
TRue, hopefully it'll change with the next election.
Patriot Act
Agreed, personally, I have not been affected by this, except all that body search at the airport :)
