What do you think about Yamaha brand?
The golden age of the Japanese Audio companies were the 70/80s, where their aim was to reach the top, so in many things they had a cost-no-object attitude, at least in their top ranges. They caught most British and American brands in the downward spiral and annihilated most, it was something akin to dumping steel at below cost. Then the Japs themselves discovered cost-cutting, hence most of their modern stuff I would consider well advertised/marketed junk.
In audio Yamaha made few landmark products, B1, B2 V-FET amplifiers, NS1000M speakers, C4, C4a Preamp and CT7000 tuner. These were all build during that period and are cost-no-object products.

I still use a pair of NS1000Ms to listen to Rock and large orchestras, for that they are peerless, no modern speaker can still touch them. But like women, no single speaker gives you everything, GG might give you the body, Penn might give you the heart and Ruwani might give you the soul. For sex you have to chase the dog.
Most of their modern stuff is junk, but now are trying to go back to their old ways and have come up with some speakers that I hear good things about - Soavo-1.
i have never heard any music from oil powered capacitor amps.
Do they still make them, when i can demo it or get a listening experience any where? it will be interesting to check it out.
Although I have seen a few other old amps the only amp that was commercially sold (in large numbers) with Paper-in-oil capacitors is the Leak TL12.1. There is a bit of history to it, when it was first made in 1948, there were no reliable electrolytic caps, so they went with very high quality Paper-in-oils, cost-wise the large capacitor block alone would be more expensive than a whole amplifier today. Also they used paper-in-oil coupling caps (again due to reliability issues) which gives the amp it's unique sound. People now have gone back to paper-in-oil coupling caps but not back to power smoothing caps due to the cost. Some were now using a very expensive brand called Black Gates, but not a patch on the ones on Leaks. The old caps are so good, after 60 years most of them are still going!
it should be able to play 1920 X 1080P video
This format is still new, not many can do it properly, just barely reach it to just get the tag. I liked the new Sony big LCDs but in fast action situations the image stops and starts, not smooth. I think it still cant do it properly in full 1920 X 1080 progressive-scan mode. BluRay was pretty impressive but don't know where it's battle with HD-DVD will take it. I hope BluRay wins as it is a better format. |

5 days is good get away from urban city life style...girl,wine,good steaks,marshmallows on chocolate,.... and the last one, but not the least - Nature - birds/tree singing, fish jumping, moose- priceless.
I can not wait till august, it gives you a glimpse of the ancient mans living conditions in the wood. From morning to late night drinking , eating and many other nature activity including canoeing, fishing, collects wood for fire, swimming while drunk,
its all so much fun : )). |

i am a bit confused by your post.Only the first few lines were addressed to you. i will amend the post just in case.
From morning to late night drinking , eating and many other nature activity including canoeing, fishing, collects wood for fire, swimming while drunk

the I is at the end. Injection. the 80's and 90's when fuelk injection was getting popular in order to differentiate with the carburetor models car makers started adding an I!
adding FUEL to the FIRE is also injection!

I wouldn?t encourage young family with kids for camping trip. Cottage is the best thing for family trip- kids will be happy in cottage.

It was very uncomfortable when the darks come, all were got into tent as couples, mine was just me and tent :)
dont worry. everyone is drunk so they wouldve hit the sack. hopefully!

Thanks for all your valuable infos about audio amp and speakers, i thought i knew my audio stuff. i checked out Soavo 1 from Yamaha, it looks impressive. What is your thought on Bose , Onkyo and Karmon Kardon?

Yeah true, LCDs still trying to smooth out that problem, if you are a sports fan better to go with a Plasma TV. Sony Bravia ones are georgeous.

i think they both will come, some players will be able to play both formatts. It is like Sony Beta Max and VHS, will have to wait and see. |

i felt that people will be hurt by yours and some others comments. i was confused too, it was very unlike of you.

Cottage is different experience, i know if you got kids, it is hard to in the wild and camp and sleep in the tent. If you ever get a chance, when your kids grow little , try hard core camping. you will like it, Got to go with he right people.

That?s so much fun. One time I came out of my tent for peeing about 4 am in the morning, oh man?that huge animal, moose, surprised me. I love the hiking too. You should take your lover when you go for camping. My friend, SLankan Tamil, married a white girl, so our camping crowd was always mixed with whites. It was very uncomfortable when the darks come, all were got into tent as couples, mine was just me and tent :)
we never encountered any wild animals, they say to watch out for bear and moose. Do not keep the food in the tent you sleep etc.
we hang the food on the tree. Most of the guys go are married, last year i went without a GF did not have one, this year i am trying to convince her to go, she make the toilet as a big issue.
i have been with girls previously to camping. It is so good when you go connoeing with her to some place where no eyes are watching : )). i do nopt feel uncomfortable when it is dark, may be since i am too drunk to understand the dangers of dark wilderness. |
