Hey HGB,
It is also nice for me meet a Gadget enthusiast like you.
Sorry for the delay in reply, i needed more time to write you.
It is hard fro me to write on weekdays from work.
SO you must have lot of collection of old audio stuff eh.
i do not collect any old items, only one i keep is my first camera Yashica Electro 35. i like to have more free space in my house than clouded with stuff.
This is a very tricky thing
It is true in a way if you emulate concert hall or a big theatre sound, ambience is part of the mix. when my old mac use to make loud fan noises which i know intrude my music, so i got rid of it an got a G5 with liquid cooled so it is whisper quite.
Also, what they say is true about clean electricity and equipment supports to cut off vibrations. But there should be limits, I know people who buy a $2000 amp and buy a $3000 power cord to connect it, which to me is pure lunacy
i agree, most of the stuff are not necessarily better, they also go for the look of the system, i do not have expensive power cord, what is it, is it a voltage regulator?, I use a surge protector. The guy says it could be worth $25000.00, in my view you could build a better studio for 1/10 of their budget.
Are you an audio engineer? i work with many audio engineers and some of them in my view, should be in the job, no passion for the job. very mediocre guys. Do you use Pro tools, Reason, Logic pro etc?. i am more into visual media, Cinematography and Photography.
Here is a link for you to watch, very interesting one. only thing is it is about 40 mins long. it will be well worth watching.
