are you kidding???
groovygirl,
The great sportsmen the Limeys are, now come up with all sorts of excuses for the defeat. The biggest one, Dilhara not delivering the last ball. If you saw the 96 final, Aravinda did the same thing to Michael Bevan, no one ever complained. I think it is perfectly within the rules. I guess, captain Bonggo is the authority on this. |

Penn,
Are you kidding? You are talking to a man who was condemned to be free, and bring up two children without any religion!

Thanks for the link on war, very interesting. Read Anil's Ghost, my favorite is 'running in the family' though. merely for the sense of humour and memories that i can relate to.
Tall blonde & long legs :(
Why not 'Tall, leggy brunette', who says we don't have fun :)))

Hey groovygirl,
Nice to have another forum-ite with a literary-bend, as most of Penn's time now is taken up with Budda Calls she hardly has any time for books, and Bonggo is too busy living up to ole' Bevis's legacy.
I reckon his best book still is 'In the Skin of a Lion,' although 'The English Patient's flowery prose pulled at many heart-strings. He also has another book 'Coming through Slaughter' - about Billy Bolden, who many regard as the pioneer of Jazz - which is quite good if taken in small doses, otherwise quite depressing and dark.
Yes, 'Running in the Family' is a great book - his most accessible, I suppose - extremely funny and poignant at the same time. Strangely enough I know people who knew his father Mervyn, and some of the people in the book are related to my wife. Edited By - hellogoodbye - 9 Apr 2007 14:44:10 GM |

HGB:
Anil's ghost is interesting, the story seems central to the time when my cousin Richard De Soyza was murdered. So the story was very personal, and felt she was trying to put the pieces together of his murder.
I went to LC with the Ondaatje nieces, but left SL at early age.
For some reason, this thread seems like 'the Art Centre Club' at the Lionel Wendt, Have you been there? I used to sneak their for under-age drinking!! oops! :)))

Who said I don't have time to read I have plenty of time doing puzzles, building Lego, learning numbers and using phonics. Recovery of my reading, now that's a long shot these days:-(. I am struggling to read few pages of my current read 'The commission'.

Penn,
Oh that's just lovely, by the way are you assisting any mercy killing.
I am a lover, not a killer... I try to keep someone alive one more day, although it's painfull for someone.
The value of life for the living goes high as you are closer to the death. That's why people try to live when they are drowning. Otherwise, they can let go.. Nope, that doesn't happen easily.
So do the life of a loved one is more valuable for the living others. That's why they try to keep the dying one alive,...
So I am NO NO for mercy killing.....
This is my philosophy on Life....
My life DOES NOT belong to ME, It's owned by the others around me, so I can't take decision on ending by my own, and at the sametime, others can't take decisions on ending my life too, because I also own a large part of it. |
