Let me also contribute to this Bhartah Natyam subject a little bit!

Shanmugampillai was a miruthagam teacher his daughter was vasugi who was prominant dance teacher .but not sure where they lived..may be it's them

My daugheter went to learn dance from her and they have been living at Fussels Lane!!

Kula and TCk thanks for the info on the Bharatha Natyam.
Growing up with all the half dressed Pop stars on tv (Nothing wrong with that actually ;)), I did not actually become aware of the erotic aspects of the Bharatha Natyam dancers until I was a lot older.
Its interesting to watch how this is conveyed through the eyes and hand gestures within the dance.

Bharthanatiyam is a beautiful,classical dance if you learn from the right teacher. Posture graceness and expression is all it takes .My mom was very particular with styles of bharthnatiyam she made sure either it was vazhuvoor or thanjavor style. There are many. But now they mix it with film movements and make it nasty,And yes most girls learn as its also go hand in hand for school functions.
