To be honest, not as good as on South Asian women. I have seen white women wearing sarees many a times.
For some reason or the other it does not suit them. Perhaps, it is our mind too. We have seen so much of our women wearing sarees, may be that we do not see the beauty in the whites wearing saree.
My humble and simple opinion is that it does not suit them. May be if they continue to wear, they may master the art of wearing and we also might start looking at that more positively!! |

True.
But there are some exceptions too...See Sonia Ghandhi?? She looks great in sarees eh??
As I said finally when they continue wear it, they adapt their movements to the saree and we too begin to accpt it. Sonia have been wearing the saree for more than 30 years and we and most Indians have cometo accept her as a part of India.
Also, the cotton sarees better suit them than the silk saress, I suppose... |

i will accept my postion in the band i want to bring to light my experince in Miruthangam. (i,e kinds of drums !)
I did study it for an yr but the blasted master always kept coming when it was play time so i had to give it up.
Mate, didn't know that you were multi-talented in that area, so yes please make more inroads to lift the budding band. I guess, we had cricket and other teams with plenty of support but have very little support for the formation of this band except of course our band members. I think you could also claim to be the publicity manager so that we can have some external assistnace.

Did you got the chance to see Moto GP. Nickey won the title and Rossi lost the title after 2002. It was a good race.
Dr Akai, MS is a great singer. Unfortunately lost his life early probably due to heavy drinking.
Freddie is no more, his son follow the foot path, but not as good as his father.
Yeah, SL had very good baila singers. I do not know who runs the show at the moment but not good as those days.
BDW some songs that are coming out could not rate as songs!! |

So you are very busy with building our LNP band?
Agreed on musicians and all the front you mentioned,but except for the Manager job to Bonggoji, why not Mr.Brown? he would handle it excellent as a Manager, would'nt he?
Bonggoji could take over the road manager or the co-ordinator job. hmm...whad do you say?
There are some nice & decent members in this thread who behave nicely, so why not we ask them what they can come up with to contribute to make this thread a pleasant one?
Well, I did the basics but we need to move ahead now. As for Bonggo ji, ok lets make him the co-ordinator and Mr Brown the Manager. My only worry is would Mr Brown have time to manage the band as he's already fully occupied in guiding us lot and curbing vagabonds and kick them out? Anyway, Mr Brown you are cordially invited to take the post.
Ok, as for expansion from the inception of the band let's make the following members too.
Ananda, Priyanthy, Kula, Abi, Lula, Kusumban and Raves. I guess you can do a mini debriefing and identify their skills to match our requirements. Ananda may be used as vocals too in my view being a baila lover we can get some additional flavour. Kula, Lula and Abi can be used to get the piano or the violin played according to their abilities. Priyanthy, Kusumban & Raves need your attention.

I heard MSs demise. I guess he was a rare talent in that area though most would not consider him among the singers like Amaradeva or Victor. Yet he addressed the commoners of Lanka which is not what many think bit like the all conquering Jothy. Is Ranjith Fernando MSs son?
Freddie is also good fun, I like some of his songs but not all. I didn't know that he had a son who sings. |

Even though it will be an honour to part of the band, music and I are far apart.
May be I can help to manage the crowd that comes to see and hear the band.
How about that????
Or if you have an instrument that can be played by my simple mind, why not?
Isn't there anything that I can just play a simple 'ting, ting' rhthym???

Dear Mr. Bill Gates (is that your real name? .....so funny),
This letter is from the Udurawana from the Kandy Hilly's. We have bought a Computer with Microsoft for first time to our home and we have big problems, which I want to be bringing to your notices.
1. After connect to internet we planned to open e-mail account so we filled the form in Hotmail in the password box but something funny happens only ******appears (stars), but in the rest whatever we typed the letters and numbers appears nicely , but we face this problem only in password box.
The user book told if there is problem check with hardware but when we went to check it with hardware vendor in the town (Kandy Hardware Stores) that bugger got angry and shouted and said 'Get out' that he can't understand the computer problem, so don't tell to check with any hardware in future because those fellows are crazy. We tried and tried to open the e-mail account typing stars ***** but no success at all. I request you to check this as we ourselves do not know what the password is.
2. Can you give a secret code for the HOTmail so only I can see the HOT stuff. I don't want my wife and child to see any of the HOTmails. Also give some COOLmail for my wife and TEENmail for my Son.
3. We are unable to enter anything after we click the 'shut down' button and have to re-start everytime we want to type a new letter. Is it a Virus? If so to which Doctor should I go to check the Computer Virus ?
4. There is a button ' Start' but there is no ' Stop' button. We request you to check this and put a Stop too.
5. We find there is 'Run' in the menu. One of my friend in Kandy clicked 'run' and has run and run so far but computer did not still tell him to stop ! So, he told me not to ever use 'Run' we request you to change that to 'sit', so that we can click that by sitting and don't have to run anywhere .
6 . Is there any 're-scooter' available in system? As I find only're-cycle', but I have only scooter at my home as I can't cycle due to leg pain .
7 . There is 'Find' button but it is not working properly. My wife lost the door key and we tried and tried a lot for tracing the key with this 'find', but unable to trace. Is it a bug??
8 . Same way even the 'Save' button is not working. Last week we were going on a walk by the lake and my Mother-in-Law fell into the Kandy lake so I quickly went home and pressed the 'Save' button but when I
got back to the lake she was dead. But anyway there was some good in that because now we got her param-parava generation house on the Kandy Hillys. But it is important that it should work from now.
9 . Another big problem, every night I am not sleeping well as I have to protect the 'mouse' from our CAT. So I suggest you to introduce a DOG instead of the mouse so I can rest in peace !
10.My child learnt 'Microsoft Word' so now he wants to be learning'Microsoft Sentence', so when can you give him a good Sentance ?
10. I am in doubt so tell me what kind of Curtains should I buy for your Microsoft Windows & also confused why there are no Doors - only Windows ??? Somebody forgot that know !
11. One friend told that there are Bites on his Computer but he cant receive them. Can you also include some Bites in my Computer - I mostly like Cadju and Rata Cadju and Bola Kadala but I like to try anything interesting you also have !

I dont know. I have two close friends whose weddings took place here and all the other wives helped them dress them all up. It was indeed quite different to look at. at one wedding it was raining and she picked up the saree and kind of began to run! held back saying a BRIDE doesnt do that!! it was quite funny though.
But yes they tend to be a bit taller than our women whose average height is around 5' 4' but the taller they are the better the saree suits them IMHO.
Infact even when a short women (or to be politically correct vertically challenged) wears a saree she sppears tall.
