Hey DrA,
Mate, where have you been? Christmas and Armageddon have both descended at once; busy like hell. Ah, women, cant do with them cant do without them!
Yes, I'll be in the sunny isle at the end of November. I was trying to get Bonggo to organise a gathering of the forumites there. We can gate-crash Ruwani's mansion, if the dogs are set loose on us then we can gather at my hut, what the heck. Who knows TC or I might turn up to be a dog-whisperer. Do you plan to be there in December?
I now listen to music and contemplate what might have been. I see Vim holding forth in the political columns; good of him. He offerers a solely needed different perspective to the norm. What can anyone say mate? All that needs to be said has been said and people are merrily killing each other. I guess it's human nature to fight and kill. I was reading about how Beethoven dedicated his 3rd symphony to Napoleon and scrawled it away in disappointment when he crowned himself emperor. Look what mayhem he caused but they say modern Europe still carry his influence. Europe has seen so much turmoil, war and killing in the past and their present is shaped by it. I suppose we are having our turn now. |

Ah Penn, When I saw it my eyes lit up, just couldn't resist the temptation! You know me; no mischief intended, just a bit of harmless fun.
Thalingam Anna,
Engelbert had some shows in SL in a place called Water's Edge. My sister and her mafia caught the show. I wouldn't be seen dead near him. |

Hi Penn,
When I see your name handle you remind me the only thing my father treasured(talking materialistic here:-)) 'Akai tape recorder' with reels/ spools.
What a soothing few words from you. Apart from HGB nobody else was in a position to enquire me about the name, he also has a R2R deck. You are spot on Penn and many thanks for raising that about your father's treasure. In fact, I am a collector of those classic Akai decks. I have 3 for me. 2 in here in the UK and 1 in SL. I love it. They sound truly fab. I cannot get out of thinking of reel to reels despite this modern tech era.
Would you mind me asking the age bracket you belong to (20-30 or 30-40) simply because I am so grateful that you took interest in mentioning the Akai and your father's passion. Beside not many modern girls know about Akai decks.
I have a huge collection of reels from v old to Beatles to more 70s and 80s. The sound is great when you record on higher speed at 7 1/2 ips. In Sri Lanka its bit difficult to store tapes due to high humidity factor. But constant playing can reduce the risk of clogging fungus on tape surface. So when ever I go there I do my usual service or cleaning and restoring the deck and give it a clean bill of health.
I am into music and cinema, yes without that I don't think I can survive. HGB, Tck and brother Thilagam know me very well in that department. I have numerous discussions with brother Thilagam on music so we have kind of hitched very well. He is a chief on Music genre, he cannot be beaten. Truly a master!
Of course due to work commitments life does not totally flow easily with R2R decks. But when time is there I never leave them astray.
Nice talking to you and take care!! |

Brother Thilagam,
Yes, as usual you are on the spot, cannot beat the Master!! :-)
I am having a little quiet morning so getting to you without much trouble.
Its a rainy morning in here (reminds me rainy night in Georgia, by the way do you know who sings that? was trying to break my neck in thinking who the hell was singing that, could not get the answer). May be someone common. |

Looks like Sri Lanka will have to pak their bags & return home. By the way things are going looks like NZ & SA from group A & WI & Australia from Group B. We urgently need to find bowlers to bowl at the depth. Dilhara got hammered in the Pak Match, Vaas in the 2nd & Mahroof against SA. Dilhara seems to be having a huge problem with wides & no Balls. The sooner something is done about it the better.
However, i do feel this team is doing very well. Hope the selectors dont try to change it. |

Hello mate, nice seeing you here after being silent for a while and I guess, there is nothing much to say other than the usual rhetoric which I feel we all are fed up now and to be honest I hardly flick through headlines other than hearing killing takes place helter-skelter sadly.
When I visited sunny isle last time I felt all we need is development of the country not BLOODY war as you see how common folks struggle at the soaring prices of daily goods. Ever wondered how many people come to you asking for pound coins when you arrive at the Katunayake airport, amazing mate!!, I feel very sorry for the plight of these lads who have either no life or no path. People don't give a toss about war mate, they are struggling to live, we need good stardard of living not stabbing behind the back for political gains. I have continuously said about the importance of a Federal state, but now I rest the case as I am not a politician to implement that. Whether VP or MR think does not matter, they both have to think about the common folks who suffer at the ways of their leaderships. Unless there is useful constructive discussions held we will see another period of tug-of-war and the economy on the verge of collapse. Only the prudent and dedicated leadership can get out of this mire. For that purpose you need a vision and I don't know whether Mahinda has that. I don't intend to drag the political view here as it may sound boring and as ever useless.
Yes, I have been pretty busy at work and I am also contemplating on other matters. Things are bit on topsy-turvy manner at the mo.
As for leaving in December, yes I have a soft corner but also there are other pressures to travel some other places, hence not sure mate.
Btw, if Ru's dogs are set loose, we'll get to Mt Lav. beach and open a bottle of tal ra and am sure good old Tck will not forget his part :-)
Ok mate, catch you later. bye!! |

Chanda malli,
Naan nalla sugam.
Let me give everybody a joke just to cheer up a little:
--A businessman met a beautiful girl and agreed to spend the night with her for $500. They did their thing, and, before he left,
he told her that he did not have any cash with him, but he would have his secretary write a cheque and mail it to her, calling the payment 'RENT FOR APARTMENT.'
--On the way to the office, he regretted what he had done, realizing that the whole event had not been worth the price. So he had his secretary send a cheque for $250 and enclose the following typed note:
--
'Dear Madam:
--Enclosed find a cheque for $250 for rent of your apartment. I am not sending the amount agreed upon, because when I rented the place, I was under the impression that:
--
--#1 - it had never been occupied;
--#2 - there was plenty of heat; and
--#3 - it was small enough to make me feel cosy and at home.
--
--However, I found out that:
#1 - it had been previously occupied,
#2 - there wasn't any heat, and
#3 - it was entirely too large.'
--Upon receipt of the note, the girl immediately returned the cheque for $250 with the following note:
' Dear Sir:
--#1 - I cannot understand how you could expect a beautiful apartment to remain unoccupied indefinitely.
--#2 - As for the heat, there is plenty of it, if you know how to turn it on.
--#3 - Regarding the space, the apartment is indeed of regular size, but
--if you don't have enough furniture to fill it, please do not blame the management.
--
--So, Please send the rent in full or we will be forced to contact your present landlady.
