The following I received by E mail. Thought I'll share it with all of you guys ....

GONE ARE THE DAYS
When school reopened in June
And we settled in our new desks & benches
When we qued up in book depot,
& got our new books & notes
When we wnated two sundays & no mondays
Yet managed to line up for daily morning prayers
WE LEARNT WRITING WITH SLATES & PENCILS & PROGRESSED TO FOUNTAIN PENS & BALL BENS & THEN MICRO TIPS
We began drawing with crayons & evolved to colour pencils & finally sketch pens
We started first with tables & then with clarkes tables & advanced to calculators & computers
WHEN WE CHASED ONE ANOTHER IN THE CORRIDORS IN INTERVALS & RETURNED TO THE CLASSROOM DRENCHED IN SWEAT
WHEN WE HAD LUNCH IN CLASSROOMS. CORRIDOORS, PLAYGROUNDS, UNDER THE TREES & VEN CYCLE SHEDS
WHEN A SINGLE PT PERIOD IN THE WEEKS TIME TABLE WAS AWAITED MORE EAGERLY THAN THE MONSOONS
WHEN CICKET WAS PLAYED WITH WRITING PADS AS BATS
& NECKTIES & SOCKS ROLLED INTO BALLS
When few played kabadi, cricket, football in the scorching sun while others simply played book cricket in the confines of the classroom.
of fights but no conspiracies, of competitions but seldom jealousy.
When few rushed to 'conquer' window seats in the school bus
while few had to stay back due to detention
Gone are the days of 'sportsDay' & the annual schools day
the one month long preparation for them
Gone are the days of the stressful Quaterly, half yerly & Annual exams & the most enjoyed after them
We learnt, we enjoyed, we played, we won, we lostt
we laughed, we cried, we fought, we thought,
With so much fun in them, So many friends, So much exprience, All this & more.
Gone are the days we used to talk to our friends for hours
Now we dont have time to say a 'HI'
Gone are the days when we played on the road
Gone are the days when we sat to chat with friends on grounds.
Now we chat in chatrooms ....
Goe are the days we studied to pass.
Now we study to save our job
GONE ARE THE DAYS WHERE WE HAD NO MONEY IN OUR POCKETS & FUN FILLED IN OUR HEARTS,
NOW WE HAVE THE ATM & CREDIT CARDS BUT WITH AN EMPTY HEART
Gone are the days we shouted on the roads
Now we dont even shout at home
Gone are the days we got lectures from all
Now we give lectures to all ...
gone are the days
BUT NOT THE MEMORIES, WHICH WILL BE
LINGERING IN OUR HEARTS FOR EVER & EVER & EVER
& EVER & EVER ....
NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE
DONT FORGET TO LIVE THE LIFE
THAT STILL EXISTS !! |
