Hi all you guys and gals (DrA, Vim, TC, Bonggo, JRJ, Penn, Priyanthi, Hashini, ML, Ruwani Akki, Thalingam),
A warm welcome to all the new forumites!
Thanks for all the responses. The questions asked, I will surely reply you all in due course. I apologise for the delay.
My ol' gal makes Marques de Sade look as pious as good ole Ruwani. Keeps me on a tight leash! What can I say? A mans' gotta do what he's gotta do to keep the ol' faith; not lose his religion. Extremely busy as we plan to be in SL again in end of Nov.
We should get Bonggo and MrBrown to organize a 'get together' in SL for all the foramites. I see Bonggo is good at organizational tasks!
After SL, I am more closer to Vim's, DrA's (and many others) vision of a negotiated settlement, than an all out brawl. But reality may end up being different. The overriding feeling I had going through most of SL is 'what a sheer waste?' We Lankans are blessed with such a beautiful and precious place, and what have we done with it? I guess you would have had the same feeling DrA.
To answer your question DrA, I don't think of politics much these days, but there were few personal discoveries in my quest (let's say) for salvation from a mostly hostile world. I wrote the following piece sometime ago, it sums up my time in SL which is sort of very personal and nothing to do with politics - of which I have a lot to discuss/debate/argue with you, Vim, et al when time permits.

And I am left contemplating the lyrics of this song,
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,
A miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well theyd be singing so happily,
Joyfully, playfully watching me.
But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible,
Logical, responsible, practical.
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable,
Clinical, intellectual, cynical.
There are times when all the worlds asleep,
The questions run too deep
For such a simple man.
Wont you please, please tell me what weve learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am.
Now watch what you say or theyll be calling you a radical,
Liberal, fanatical, criminal.
Wont you sign up your name, wed like to feel youre
Acceptable, respecable, presentable, a vegtable!
At night, when all the worlds asleep,
The questions run so deep
For such a simple man.
Wont you please, please tell me what weve learned
I know it sounds absurd
But please tell me who I am. |
