dont know whether you know this but the kandy sinhalese are known as high caste people. some other caste are Govi, karawa.

For your information, all sinhalese living in Kandy are not Udarata sinhalese(high caste), more than half of the sinhalese population came from other parts mostly from down south to start buisness in diffrent areas, especially the bakers,butchers,fish vendors,vegetable vendors,tea shops and so on ,thats was the case in Matale too where I was born.

livingin Kandy?, they came from Balangoda (down south)to settle down in Udarata, so that does not make them Kandyan sinhalese.
Have you ever seen a real Udarata (Kandyan) sinhalese wedding? and how the bride & bridegroom dress?
High caste Kandyan sinhalese do not take any sinhalese in side their home if they are not Udarata, atleast this was in my time. I dont know the present set up.
