Thambi Bonggo
Thilham anna,
I was bout to leave. Saw you just in time. Nice to see you, to see you nice.
Had a fantastic baila session with koththu rotti, cheer leading, kandyan dancing, katakam, baratham etc
Take care and tomorrow shall post you some sardarji stuff from Alabama :)
Thambi Bonggo ,I love koththu rotti unfortunatly we do not have it here, I 've made myself couple of times but nothing like the sri lankan.
Thambi Bonggo I know you are about leave, but why dont you take the fallowing joke with you,but dont loose it on your way out...
There was this guy at a bar, just looking at his drink. He stays like that for half of an hour.
Then, this big trouble-making truck driver steps next to him, takes the drink from the guy, and just drinks it all down. The poor man starts crying. The truck driver says, 'Come on man, I was just joking. Here, I'll buy you another drink. I just can't stand to see a man cry.'
'No, it's not that. This day is the worst of my life. First, I fall asleep, and I go late to my office. My boss, outrageous, fires me. When I leave the building, to my car, I found out it was stolen. The police said that they can do nothing. I get a cab to return home, and when I leave it, I remember I left my wallet and credit cards there. The cab driver just drives away.'
'I go home, and when I get there, I find my wife in bed with the gardener. I leave home, and come to this bar. And just when I was thinking about putting an end to my life, you show up and drink my poison Edited By - THILAGAM - 11 Sep 2006 21:43:04 GMT |

Thilagam Anna,
there are plenty of Vihara lanes in Colombo area, which vihara lane you are after?
Only one I know is the one in wellawatte/ dehiwela border so to speak. opposite where Zellers use to be... damn I use to love the fudge but no more Zellers.
So apart from the western drums do you play miruthangam ? |

Vihara Lanes, Vihara Roads are at, Ratmalana, Dehiwela, Kalobowila, Mt .Levenia?, Nugegoda, Wattala, Peliyagoda, Battaramulla, Panipitiya, Moratuwa, Demetagoda?
Nawela, Narehenpita?
You may find plenty of vihara roads and vihara lanes all over Colombo.
Yes I know to play, Miruthangam, Thavil, Gadam (clay pot) Jaladarangam, Tabla, Dolki, Bongos, Congas, and Drums.
I started with Miruthangam ended up in Drums, isn?t it funny?
All these Indian instruments are different from the western drums.
Drums you have to play with 2sticks likewise the Thavil too but with one short thick stick.
To play Gadam you have to have sort of a rings made out of skin around all your fingers, but to play Thavil you need rings only on one hand.
I?ve learnt Miruthangam in VannarPonnai (Jaffna) in the mid 50's.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer, if you have any more question just ask me.
I remember Zellers too.
Regards

PENNY:
When our grandmas and our grandpas were just girls and boys,
they seemed to have a lot more fun than we.
Their party clothes were calicoes and homemade corduroys,
and a big event was called a husking bee.

Here's the secret....of katukambi......
In fact, it is in Arabia that arrack claims its origins from. The Arabic araq literally means perspiration. Quite aptly, given that the strong clear liquor was made from raisins and sweat! The idea for the conservation of water by using body fluids came from the Jews, who called the potion ariqa. Early history saw the Arabs trade along the Silk Road ? and everywhere the Arabs went, arrack was sure to go. So much so, that you will find arrack in all its excuses spanning the globe.
In Sri Lanka, fermented jaggery, rotten bananas, cockroaches, frogs, barbed wire, limestone and urea are some of the ingredients for the famous -magical potion- known as Kasippu that is loved by the men here. This list of ingredients may not sound very appetising but the worst is yet to come. Chloro-hydrate (or hydrochloric acid), a poisonous chemical acid is imported from Hyderabad and added to the concoction, making it highly intoxicating, and burns the inner organs of the body. Forget drinking for fun; this lethal potion claims the lives of at least twenty men every month. |

Just when I have a minute, I must respect my postion and do the necessary adjustments..
OK, Let's leave Aniza out, he's a busy chap anyway. That puts JRJ right on the Right Wing, who else could be more right wing than him!!
But then we need to find somebody replace him at Openmarket Plonker (or in rugby terms, Openside Flanker).
Let's keep searching.
ML, See now what do you think my qualification to be here!! ?? Did Mr.Nanayakkara coach you rugby as well? I bet he is a better Rugby coach than a science teacher!!
Penn..I think you had better stick to Fly half until Bonggo gets his knee sorted, when he could be moved to perhaps Inside Centre putting you down at Full Back! |
