Why do you say Nuwan is 'my friend'? Actually it's a friend of mine who likes Nuwan. But she's crazy since Nuwan is 2 years younger to her. |

i have been with my wife since High school. we were good friends. 10th yr 'official' anniversary coming up. Got the Most imporatnt thing in MY life out of the way! there is a tamil saying
manivi amaivathellam iraivan kodutha varam -- to have a good wife is a gift from God. Was yours a love marriage or arranged. i can look and talk but no touching! and thats enough for my small libido!
as Dr pointed out there could be issues later on in life particularly when you age and kids, aging parents etc come into play. Plus I like My thosais!
Dr i am curious regarding your comment about family problems. the older gen always seems have difficulty is alloweing the younger gen to make a life altering decision!
did that play a part Dr. I always thought folks who went and chose their partner were kind of 'brave ' whatever that might mean!
i also noticed you call your lady GF. there is a suble but important difference between wife and GF if you get my drift.

Nice to hear that there are no hiccups in your marriage and that what matters in life. So keep your pecker up!
I cannot remember which thread that was but have seen you mentioning about NK so that was why I enquired. Anyway, not sure whether the chap is playing tomorrow, and I cannot see whoever plays tomorrow other than an England victory if rain gods don't interefere.
So NK is dating an akka? :-)
Btw, Claudia knows how to ask 'Oya Kohomada?' which I taught as a first phrase to get into a conversation :-) |

Thanks for the reply. Wow, yours was a love marriage so? I thought love marriages were prohibited among the Tamil community? perhaps another misconception among the communities.
Ours was a Love marriage ofcourse.
Dr ayya,
Good to hear Claudia knows a few sinhalese words. My Mother's cousin Bro is married to a lady from Peru, and also speaks Spanish. She is well settled in SL and likes SL so much. So I don't think Claudia will have problems settling down here even in case. |

Well, am not sure whether I call her GF than lady. Yes, I had some problems those days when I was kind of going out with the tamil girl when her parents have found a tamil chap for her and she was very reluctant to say that to me and I had a kind of an argument with her parents thus had to compose my self for sometime and my tamil mates were there to kind of console me and the rest of it. But I have to admit that she was very innocent and I wish the man she married is getting all a man can receive from a very down to earth girl. Tck, this was sometime ago mate.
The next up was when I got hooked up with a Sinhalese girl her relatives were trying to find bits and pieces of my life and not kind of respecting my way of freedom of life etc. So the girl was taken away as well. Both incidents were not to blame for either party but for the families etc. So I am little cautious when it comes to family issues as conservatism is not my forte towards families etc.
I think that would provide a sufficient answer for your question.

Yes, Claudia is very good in getting on with family and the relatives except I have to be an interpreter. Since I can speak some Spanish I am ok kind of and she speaks very good English which saves my bacon too.
Peru has nice girls as far as I have seen, and Claudia has some friends from both Peru and Argentina but they speak a different Spanish to Claudia's. The Spain's Spanish is more robust where as the Peru and Argentinian Spanish is soft. Their accent is very mild (muy lento says, Claudia :-)
The good thing is she does not look foreign when she goes to SL other than being little fairer than me. Black hair and similar features. Similar to Jacki Fernandez' colour or slightly fairer. So you can imagine what I'm saying. |

| Wow, this is indeed a great thead. One request please dont ever let it stop. Weve completed the double century lets go for the triple. If I may add my two cents, Unlike most of you guys ... I remember one day my mom saying Son, Ive seen a girl for you, I feel she is suitable for you & our families are compatible. I still cant seem to understand why I told her 'then fix the date'. 7 years have passed & Thx be to The Allmighty we are a very content family. Of course initially I had thoughts of 'or my god why did I ever agree to this' but, as time progressed we overcame all our obstacles. If anything Ive learnt that TIME IS A GREAT HEALER & we should give everything time & face all problems with a lot of patience. |

DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN?
When the worst thing you could do at school was smoke in the
bathrooms, flunk a test or chew gum. And the banquets were in the
tuckshop and we danced to a juke box later, and all the girls wore
fluffy pastel gowns and the boys wore 'longs' for the first time and
we were allowed to stay out and watch a 9.30 pm show at the Liberty, Majestic or the Savoy....!
and the biggest thrill was holding hands!
When a Sunbeam Alpine or an MG was everyone's dream car. to cruise,
peel out and watch the road races and people went steady and it was
the greatest weekend to go the 'Coconut Grove' with the JETLINERS or
to 'Akasa Kade' with the SPITFIRES....!
And no one ever asked where the car keys were 'cause they were always
in the car, in the ignition, and the doors were never locked. And you
got in big trouble if you accidentally locked the doors at home, since
no one ever had a key.
Remember lying on your back on the grass with your friends and saying
things like 'That cloud looks like a...' And playing cricket with
no adults to help kids with the rules of the game. Back then, cricket
was not a psychological group learning experience
it was a game!
then after the match, dinner at 'Sarawathies and dessert at 'Zellers'!
Remember when stuff from the shops came without safety caps and
hermetic seals 'cause no one had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger?
And...with all our progress...don't you just wish...just once...you
could slip back in time and savour the slower pace...and share it with
the children of the 80's and 90's... ?

Basically, we were in fear for our lives, but it wasn't because of
terrorism'....drive by shootings, drugs, gangs, alcohol and road
rage...etc.
Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! But we all
survived.... because their love was greater than their threat!
Didn't that feel good, just to go back and say, 'Yeah, I remember'
And was it really that long ago?! |

All my childhood friends had love marriages. i think the % is fast changing if not already changed.

Tck,
There you go mate life after some struggle seems settling down. But you know some memories keep coming back and that is human nature. You cannot obliterate the entire picture despite after heck of a time. Especially when you know that all those relationships were just removed due to external influences than you dumping out.
Nevertheless, Claudia is a good and kind asset and I cannot and shouldn't complaint about anything.
Tomorrow is the First Test, I'm wondering how long our guys gonna last? remains to be seen. Not sure NK is playing?? |
