Naleen, you are perfectly correct! The reason it does not turn out that way I feel is the extremist ways of thinking. If everyone thinks about the others problems and takes the middle path and reasons out moderately this world would be a better place to live in. Edited By - kiwikanga - 21 Mar 2006 04:07:34 GMT |

| Naleen, unfortunate as it seems, brotherhood does seem to be limited to schools only. Maybe its the bond of being part of a great establishment that keeps everyone united as brothers. I suppose it is not there once you leave college & come to the national level. Everyone wants a piece of the action & most often the communal card is played to stay in power. |

Fairplay: I agree with you, in the national scene at least the Royalist have been jolly.
Strange it seems, it was the old Thomians who have mostly played the communal card!!
This may be a pure coincidence. |

Damn bonggo,
starting with a baila the mood was warming up and then you have to say this
'''Strange it seems, it was the old Thomians who have mostly played the communal card!! '''
why why why
Naleen,
at the moment tamils and sinhalese are in agreement on these issues known as BBC +C
Booze, baila, cricket + chicks. The idea is to increase this agreement so that the agreements outpace the disagreements and it might pave the way to solve the matter.
Oh well Let me do the rounds! |

Dear Bongoo,
You are a True Baila King Macho...
Although I started these Baila sessions on the Forum,I am no match to you. You can improvise better and I wish you lead the Band.
As mentioned before, I am a Product of Two schools.
St.Joseph's College, Darley Rd. and Royal College.
What I wish to specify about it is St.Joseph's FORMED me and Royal FINISHED me like in any manufacturing process.
A Person is FORMED to know how to get about his life and destination AND is FINISHED to know about getting about in the society through hostile and cordial territories.
Royal had students from all races, religions and classes. Every student was exposed to portions of each ones religions and values. Do I need to repeat my learning Buddhism for the first time at Royal.
Being a Catholic, I run to savour the food served at the Saraswathi Poojai organised by Hindu students.
In simple terms YOU HAVE A FRIEND IN EVERY SINGHALESE,MUSLIM,TAMIL,CHINESE,MALAYALEE ETC.
Before anything, I would suggest that all schools in SL should change to accomadating students from all races and religions equally. Shun the religious and communal criteria.
SL will be a better world for our future generations.

Tamilcankun: Sorry mate when I was writing the baila the thought of Banda & Chelva crossed me (as someone has written in this forum) and both old thomians. However, I concluded this may be a pure coincidence.
BBC and C++ is an ideal example of looking at our similarities rather than differences.
Sorry for spoiling your enjoyment. Our baila was spoiled by the politicians' baila.
Fairplay: Thanks for the compliments. You are my inspiration. I am just an amateur, not king :)
Your thoughts about schools are absolutely correct. We should not have encouraged schools based on communal grounds, though in early 20th century it was a necessity. Those who have studied in Royal, DS, Wesley, Kingswood etc are lucky.
