But he batted 4 times for 4 cute sons. Then declared after realizing he'll never hit a sixer for girl. I
its funny you mention a 6. i have heard it the other way around. a 4 for a girl and a 6 for a boy.
the reason i asked whether he is rich was the SA tour was basically because of money and i was wondering whether they invested it wisely since their cricketing career was done.
he couldnt bat on the field so he batted on the bed.
do you know there is another subtle meaning for 'batting' Edited By - tamilcanuck - 28 Jul 2006 18:21:55 GM |

Guru,
I remember Hemantha Devapriya was a stylish batsman. If I remember correctly, he was limping a little when he was a schoolboy but very good at batting.
Hemantha was the coach of Sri Lanka under 19 team for a while. Or was he a manager?

| He was coaching I think. He tried commentary but didn't work out. |

So i take it apart from watever family issues he might have gone through he has squandered his earnings from the tour.
Is this a fair interpretation. wonder what the other cricketrs are upto. ranasinghe i think is no more. what about the others. |

Of the others, I know only Bandula Warnapura is in the limelight. Brnard Perera, Mahesh, Lantra Fernando et al., no idea.
I think all of them invested their money and as it is natural, some would have done well and others did not. |

Guru,
Here is a link of that Sri Lankan tour to South Africa in 1982 with statistics of all the games played:
http://www.icc-cricket.com/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/1980S/1982-83/OTHERS+ICC/AROSA-SL_IN_RSA/
Yes, West Indies had rebel tours too, in 1982-83 and 1983-84. All involved players were banned from the game.
